La Crema Canela

This place is fantastic. Belongs to the restaurant chain andilana which owns some of my fav ones in Madrid.
Location: Right next to the rambla on one of the alleys of plaza real.
Service: Staff were always nice and helpful trying to get us a table
Quality: Food is a mediterrian spanish/​asian fusion and it was beyond expectations. Very elaborated dishes.
Value for money: Prices are quite reasonable.
Atmosphere: Place is small but its got a terrace. Perfect for a nice dinner and a chat.

Our friend suggested this Pan Asian Spanish restaurant. A small restaurant in an alley in the Placa Reial. Very cozy and intimate. The servers are very nice. We ordered a bottle of the Rioja and a server accidentally spilled it on my sons white shirt and pants. They were very apologetic, went above and beyond to clean and scrub his clothes in the back room. We got to know them as they cleaned him up. Best of all, watched the kitchen crew masterfully create an aesthetic pan asian dish. They ended up bringing us a new bottle of wine, comp an appetizer, and gave us an apéritif. If you’re looking for a restaurant with less crowd and enjoy conversations with your friend without the background noise, the this is your place.

Restaurante en una de las entradas a la la famosa plaza Del Real del centro de Barcelona. Siempre que pasaba por allí, me decía: ‘Que restaurante más mono, este hay que probarlo’. Y este es su punto fuerte, la decoración cálida pero moderna que invita a comer como en casa. Y si no te llama la decoración, créeme que lo hará su menú, bien expuesto y llamativo de la entrada.
En mi sexta escapada a Barcelona, pasamos por delante y ya era hora de darse el gusto. Nosotros entramos, pero el gusto se ve que se quedó dando vueltas por la plaza: a ningún plato pude encontrarle el sabor… Una lástima que salió cara…
Este comentario lo puntualizo únicamente al menú de mediodía. Bien puede ser que por las noches los platos sean una lujuria de sabores. En vez de arriesgarme, esperé reseña de Unilocal.:)

Nice food, good wine, nice atmosphere. Waiters were a bit hectic and could have been more attentive though.

Si estás por el centro y buscas un sitio en el que comer relajadamente a buen precio, éste es una buena opción.
Tienen platos muy ricos combinando cocina mediterránea con algunos toques orientales. Y si hace buen tiempo puedes sentarte en una de las mesas de la terraza.
La atención es buena aunque un poco lenta, así que se queda con tres estrellas.

Jetzt komme ich endlich dazu, den zweiten Bericht bezüglich meines Barcelona Kurztrips zu schreiben. Das beste Essen hatten wir im La Crema Canela!
Die Karte ist überschaubar, was meiner Meinung nach immer für das Lokal spricht. Die Preise sind wirklich mehr als fair. Vorspeisen gibt es bereits ab ca. 6, — €. Die günstigen Preise haben uns dann auch dazu verleitet, ein drei Gänge Menü zu ordern. Als Vorspeise entschied ich mich für eine Salatkreation mit frischen Feigen und Walnüssen. Als Hauptspeise wählte ich selbst gemachte Ravioli mit Pilzfüllung in einer sehr leckeren Mascarpone Soße. Das Dessert war ein Traum in Form eines Schoko-​Himbeer Kuchens. Als Vegetarier wird man im La Crema Canela auf alle Fälle fündig. Aber auch alle begeisterten Fleischesser kamen hier auf ihre Kosten.
Zum Essen bestellte ich einen weißen Hauswein und zum Schoko-​Himbeer Kuchen einen Dessertwein. Auch hier waren die Preise wieder sehr moderat. Zu zweit hatten wir dann für je drei Gänge und Getränke eine Rechnung von etwas über 50, — €. Insgesamt hat das Essen eher an die italienische– als an die spanische Küche erinnert.
Das Lokal wirbt auf der Webseite auch für Mediterrane Küche. Besonders positiv aufgefallen ist mir, dass die einzelnen Gänge sehr schön angerichtet waren. Ganz nach dem Motto: Das Auge ist mit. Die Bedienung war freundlich, wenn auch nicht immer ganz aufmerksam. Beim Nachbestellen von Getränken, musste man sich mehrmals bemerkbar machen. Aber der Abend war so schön, dass mich dies nicht aus der Ruhe brachte.
Das Ambiente ist wirklich sehr romantisch. Wir entdeckten das Lokal ganz zufällig, in einer kleinen Gasse beim Placa Real. Glücklicherweise war ein Tisch frei. Ansonsten war das Lokal sehr ausgelastet und bei einem geplanten Besuch ist eine Reservierung sicher notwendig.
Der einzige Kritikpunkt beim La Crema Canela wäre die Portionsgröße der Gerichte. Diese sind nämlich nicht nur bei den Vorspeisen, sondern auch bei den Hauptspeisen relativ überschaubar. Also bei großem Hunger reicht ein Gang wahrscheinlich nicht aus. Da ich aber ein sehr schlechter Esser bin und die Preise wirklich niedrig waren, kam mir das sehr entgegen und ich konnte sogar drei Gänge genießen.
Beim nächsten Barcelona Besuch würde ich auf alle Fälle wieder dort zu Abend essen. Das Lokal gehört übrigens neben weiteren Lokalen und einem Hotel zur «Grup Andilana». Soweit ich das mitbekommen habe, werden diese von einem Inhaber betrieben. Auf alle Fälle werde ich bei passender Gelegenheit auch das ein oder andere Restaurant ausprobieren. Excellent pour déjeuner prêt de la plaza Real. C’est très bon, bien présenté, pas typiquement espagnol mais un peu gastronomique. C’est là que j’ai choisi de goûter la crema catalana, l’ancêtre de notre crème brûlée et je n’ai pas été déçue !

Nachdem wir am ersten Abend um dieses Restaurant geschlichen sind und die toll angerichteten Teller bestaunt haben, haben wir uns für den nächsten Abend einen Tisch reserviert. Wir waren nicht überzeugt, das die Reservierung klappen würdewurden aber positiv überrascht. Unsere auf Englisch getätigte Reservierung hatte funktioniert. das war aber auch das einzige Positive am dem Restaurantwir wählen als Vorspeise gefüllte Trüffelravioli und Thunfisch-​Rollendie Ravioli waren gut, solche bekommt man aber auch schon bei Aldi, die Thunfischrollen, wo wir eigentlich rohen Thunfisch erwartet hätten, kamen als eine Art Frühlingsrolle gefüllt mit Thunfisch und Möhren. Viel zu plump für ein solches Restaurantdiese Art von Essen erwarte ich beim fettigen Chinamann, aber nicht hier. Die Vorspeise kam schnell, der Hauptgang ließ auf sich wartenanscheinend hatte man uns vergessen. Als das Essen dann endlich kam, war es kalt. In Deutschland hätte ich es zurück gehen lassen. Meine Entenbrust war ok, aber kalt. Des Steak von meinem Freund war jedoch zäh wie eine Schuhsohle, das dazugehörige Kartoffelpüree langweilig und geschmacklos. Was auch noch seltsam wardas Besteck wurde nicht getauschtVorspeise und Hauptgang aßen wir mit dem selben Besteckd.h. es lag auch noch die ganze Zeit das schmutzige Besteck aufm Tisch herum. Lediglich als der kalte Hauptgang kam wurden die Messer ausgetauscht. Die Getränke waren jedoch sehr günstig.falsche Wasser 2 Euro und Wein ebensokeine Ahnung warum. Fazit: Eine Enttäuschung !

My family and I were looking for a restaurant to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch, but we left pretty disappointed after our meal.
The restaurant itself is has a nice atmosphere and is in a great location. The service was decent. I’m not sure if it was just an off day, but the food was just not good.
I ordered the «meat lasagna,» which I wasn’t expecting to be anything like Italian-​style lasagna, but what I got was really strange. It ended up being layered beef with some sort of sauce that not only tasted weird, but had a funky, gelatinous consistency. My husband ordered a chicken dish that was supposed to come with flavored rice, but he ended up getting plain white rice with teriyaki-​style chicken skewers. His wasn’t bad tasting, but definitely nothing special.
Overall, I felt like the food was overpriced for the quality and quantity. Hopefully it’s not like that on a normal basis.

Came to this place on the recommendation of a friend who lived in Barcelona, and for lunch, it’s great value at 10 euros for the set menu.

We enjoyed the menu of the day. At 9.95 euros you cannot go wrong. I had soup, a Philipino style chicken dish, cake, and wine. Service was great. The restaurant is also adjacent to the plaza where runnerbean tours starts their «free» walking tours. Both are recommended

En Barcelona hay una serie de restaurantes, gestionados por la misma empresa, que ofrecen cocina de mercado a precios bastante asequibles en ambientes agradables. La Crema Canela es uno de ellos y lo que lo distingue de los demás es que, por tener una sala pequeña, el ambiente es más íntimo. En verano se llena de turistas, por eso recomiendo ir en invierno. El menú de mediodía cuesta alrededor de 10 euros y, por la noche, se pude comer a la carta por unos 25 euros. No es caro, teniendo en cuenta que se encuentra en pleno centro y que se come aceptablemente bien. Adecuado para cenas íntimas, en pareja o en grupos reducidos, pero sin expectativas de convertirse en velada memorables.

Este uno de mis restaurantes favoritos. Me encanta la comida de fusión y mediterránea, y de vez en cuando y si el bolsillo lo permite me doy un gusto. Este lugar sin ser nada del otro mundo en decoración y todo eso está bastante bien. Su carta es variada y uno puede disfrutar de sabrosos platos de carne y pescado. Los postres también están muy bien. Yo he venido a cenar con amigos y se pasa muy bien. El comedor principal no es muy grande y tiene varias mesas que están bien y puedes ver la Plaça, también tiene terraza. En su interior tiene mesas para dos en plan íntimas.

Plats excellents, catalans avec influence orientale ! Petite terrasse très sympa proche de la plaça Reial, on profite de l’ambiance sans en être au beau milieu. Bön service.

Very enjoyable. I wouldn’t go quite as far as gayleymoo, but given the touristy choice around the area, this is a great choice.
Sort of oriental /​Spanish fusion; I had a cheese salad with pine nuts and a curry sauce to start and brochettes of chicken with basmati rice to follow. All finished off with more brochettes (of fresh fruit) with natural yoghurt. Oh and fine bottle of red — but as I was eating on my own I want going to mention that. All very reasonably priced — even at c.1 EU to the pound!
The location is great, just off La Rambla on one of the passages into the Placa Real.
Highly recommended.

This is my favourite restaurant in the whole world and the only restaurant that I would queue to get into. The food is amazing, I love the duck with the strawberries, oh and the chocolate fondant and… The wine flows, the service is great and the price is really reasonable. I was studying in Barca one summer and we had many great meals here. It is also very handy for then moving onto any one of Barcelonas great bars. I could go on and on, it’s fab!

La Crema Canela es un restaurante de cocian mediterranea y de fusión oriental situado en la zona gótica de la ciudad.
Tiene una decoracion tambien mediterranea, con mesas un poco apretadas, aunque el sitio es acogedor.
No aceptan reservas, así que conviene ir pronto para poder tener sitio.
La carta no es muy variada aunque original y la relacion calidad precio es aceptable.25−30 € por cabeza, aunque tienen menus a mediodia mas asequibles.

Ich schliesse mich hier der Meinung oder auch dem Bericht von deniz an. Ich war schon zweimal dort und es das Essen war ein Gedicht. Leckeres spanisches Essen, frisch zubereitet und ja, die Portionen sind nicht so gross, aber sie schmecken einfach mal verdammt gut.

Das La Crema Canela ist etwas versteckt gleich ab vom Plaça Reial in einer Seitengasse. Das Menu verspricht eine interessante, moderne Küche zu vernünftigen Preisen. Die Bedienung war sehr distanziert und sprach so leise, dass sie jeden Satz wiederholen musste. Das ist aber auch schon alles was ich kritisieren konnte. Das Essen war ein Traum.
Ich hatte ein Enten-​Confit mit Feige das ich mir besser kaum vorstellen konnte. Die Haut war Knusprig und das Fleisch fiel vom Knochen. Meine Freundin hatte eine Rindsfilet-​Lasagne. Sprich Filetstreifen geschichtet mit Pfifferlungen an einer Bratensauce auf Mangold.
Es waren keine Mörderportionen aber meiner Meinung nach kriegt man hier sehr gute Qualität. Für mich war es definitiv das beste Essen während unseres 4 Tage Trips in Barcelona.
