Banys Orientals

The reason I am rating this hotel 5 stars is simply due to the service. My girlfriend and I caught a delayed red-​eye from Iceland with ridiculously noisy passengers, and hadn’t slept in 26 hours when we touched down. After a walk from the flybus stop in Plaça de Cataluña with our luggage, we arrived at the hotel around 11:00am. Despite arriving an hour and a half before check-​in, we were given a room immediately. We wanted nothing more than to rest, so we were enthused to get a room.
The rooms are reasonably spacious and well appointed. We were unfamiliar with the concept of using the room key to activate the room’s electricity with the little white box on the wall, but the front desk helped us out. If you get a room on the street side, be aware that it’s going to be extremely noisy except for a window of peacefulness between 5:00 — 6:30am. It’s a happening area and there are people out pretty much all night.
Another perk is the provision of free bottled water for every floor.
The only negative I have about the hotel is that the beds were extremely firm. The floor would have been a close second in softness. Also, if you’re a tourist, stay away from the attached restaurant. Not tourist friendly.

I know where i’ll be staying my next trip to barcelona. well within walking distance to the beach, shopping and but a few metro stops from Nou Camp and Sagrada Familia. I definitely recommend this place, although you should ask for an owner’s manual to work the shower (minus 1 star.) It was confusing as all hell. This place was modern, clean, has friendly staff and apparently a nice restaurant. There is free wifi and a couple cpu’s on the first floor for you to use. There is also a plethora or restaurants and bars within spitting distance.

Great location. The room was nice — quite stylish though not as functional. The bed was also aesthetically pleasing, but not super comfortable. Rates were reasonable and would certainly consider staying here again.

Tuve la ocasión, de visitar por dentro este elegante hotel el año pasado. Mi hermana tenía muchas ganas de hospedarse en él, a sabiendas de que en casa siempre tenemos una habitación de invitados libre, y más para ella por supuesto.
La situación es inmejorable, a tiro de piedra del Born y a dos pasos de la catedral. Está decorado con un gusto, entre minimalista y moderno. Las 43 habitaciones del hotel son elegantes (sin grandes alardes) y funcionales, aunque lo ideal es reservar una de las suites que se encuentran en un edifico próximo al hotel. La suites son un poco más caras, pero más cómodas y amplias. Son como un pequeño apartamento sin cocina. Además de la cama de matrimonio disponen de una zona especial con un sofá cama por si se quiere compartir con alguien más (pensado para parejas con niño o para amigos que viajan en trío sin connotación sexual.)
El servicio es muy amable, aunque eso no debería ser reseñable porque se supone que ha de ser así por descontado. Es una muy buena opción para pasar tres o cuatro días en plan turístico en un hotel con encanto evitando hospedarse en una gran cadena.

Cuando un amigo me preguntó por un hotel en el centro «con encanto» lo tuve muy claro. El Banys Orientals es un hotel diseñado con el mismo mimo con el que Ramon Parellada (del restaurante Senyor Parellada, o la Fonda Europa de Granollers) diseña todos sus proyectos. Está situado en el Born, muy cerca de Santa María del Mar y ofrece a sus clientes diferentes hospedajes: las habitaciones del hotel dotadas con todos los servicios (incluida una nevera con aguas cortesía de la casa) y unos apartamentos anexos al hotel (que ellos llaman «suites»), en dos niveles (el de arriba puede convertirse en una cama supletoria) y que dan mucha más independencia al cliente. La decoración es elegante, moderna y sobria y, como es habitual en los locales firmados por Parellada, cuenta con una especial atención en la iluminación y también en la decoración (cuadros, esculturas).

Die Lage des Banys Orientals in der Altstadt Barcelonas ist wirklich hervorragend. Man verläßt das Hotel und ist bereits mittendrin. Rund um das Hotel gibt es unzählige Tapas-​Bars, Cafés, Restaurants, Boutiquen und sogar einen Supermarkt, der bis 24 Uhr geöffnet hat. Auch eine Metrostation ist in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Wir hatten uns die Barcelona Card für eine Woche geleistet, was sich aber im Nachhinein als überflüssige Investition herausstellte, weil man vieles zu Fuß erreichen konnte.
Trotz der perfekten Infrastruktur ist das Hotel verhältnismäßig ruhig, denn es liegt an einer Fußgängerzone. Wir hatten für die erste Hälfte unseres sechstägigen Aufenthalts ein Doppelzimmer gebucht, für die zweite Hälfte eine der Suiten.
Tatsächlich ist das Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis für ein Doppelzimmer mitten in der Altstadt für unter 100 Euro sensationell. Die Zimmer sind zwar knapp bemessen, man muss schon manchmal die Luft anhalten, wenn man zwischen den Pfosten des Doppelbetts und dem Schreibtisch durch will, aber es fehlt an nichts. Die Klimaanlage ist sehr wirkungsvoll, an der Wand hängt ein Flachbildfernseher mit internationalen Programmen und die, die auch im Urlaub nicht aufs Internet verzichten können oder wollen, dürfen sich über Gratis-​Wifi freuen. Ebenso gratis ist Mineralwasser, das man sich aus den Gemeinschaftskühlschränken in jedem Stockwerk holen kann.
Den Aufpreis für die Suiten von ca. 40 Euro pro Nacht würde ich mir das nächste Mal sparen, denn außer mehr Platz ist nicht wirklich mehr geboten. Die Suiten liegen auch nicht im Haupthaus, sondern ein Teil im Nebenhaus und ein anderer Teil in einem Gebäude ca. 5 Minuten Fußmarsch entfernt.
Insgesamt eine wirklich empfehlenswerte Übernachtungsadresse in Barcelona.

Marvellous located Boutique Hotel in the centre of Barcelona’s old town area, Ribera between Barri Gòtic and Barceloneta. It’s close the church Santa Maria del Mar and the Carrer de Montcada with its famous museums (Picasso etc.)
The relationship between design/​price and service is absolutely astonishing. Fair prices for wonderful, small rooms. The ideal choice for a short-​trip to Barcelona.
If you like natural, minimalistic Design, you are very welcome at this location.
The Hotel has 44 rooms and offers also some bigger type of suites. All relevant details are shown on the website.
Reservation need to be made quite in advance.
You also find a very awesome restaurant attached to this hotel. As a hotel guest you will have better chances to make a reservation.

Hip hotel
The recently opened Banys is a real find, with its small-​but-​perfectly-​formed minimalist chic rooms — think dark wood, huge walk-​in showers, white linen and Starck perspex chairs. Friendly staff, free mineral water, fabulous location in the trendy Born area, a short walk from lots of great bars, shops and sights. A much-​needed budget chic addition to the Barcelona hotel scene.
