The salad starter was amazing and set expectations pretty high for the chicken. However the chicken was just too deep fried for our liking. The marinade was nice, but very very oily. The chips were also a bit soggy. It’s definitely a hit with the locals, but there might have been a bit too much garlic for our English palette. Can’t fault the staff, although I think some of our conversations may have been lost in translation, they were perfectly nice and welcoming and ordered us a taxi for the way home after our meal. Great service.

It’s been five days since my last bite of Oasis chicken. I can’t work. I can’t think. I can’t sleep. A bit dramatic? Or maybe it’s just that good. We rolled up to Oasis at the suggestion of our dive master and were a bit skeptical, until we saw the line. It was 2.30 in the afternoon and there were groups of locals standing around waiting for that magic moment when their name is called. In no time we were seated and the waitress greeted us with: ?pollo para cuatro? Si. ?pan y ensalada? Si. ?papas fritas? Si. ?cerveza? !Por supuesto! So apparently their options are pollo or… pollo. Shortly thereafter she dropped off the beers and homemade bread. Nothing over the top but it was nice. A bit later came our salad which looked like hamburger fixings(iceberg, onions and sliced tomatoes) but it was tossed in a nice vinaigrette so we enjoyed it. Before we knew it, it was time for the main event. The waitress dropped off a massive plate of pan fried chicken along with thick fries. The chicken was a mix of drumsticks and thighs, and was truly out of this world. Lightly spicy with crispy skin and tender meat inside. I’m not sure what they seasoned it with but I considered marrying into the family just so I could find out. If you find yourself near Adeje you absolutely must come here. The food was incredible and the cost was next to nothing.

The famous Adeje garlic chicken, is quiet good here. Its the only option available in the menu. Going by the authenticity of the recipe, may be it was good. But personally, there was just a lot of fried, oily stuff. Sangria was very nice though :)

Oh my god. The Oasis Restaurant Bar(a.k.a ‘The Chicken Shack’) serves chicken that dreams are made of. It’s well famous to most visitors to Tenerife, because of its simple menu. Well, there isn’t a menu to speak of. You sit down, tell them how many portions, and they bring you the most delectable, spicy, crispy, garlicky chicken you’ve ever eaten. It’s served in baskets, with huge plates of chips fried in olive oil, and platters of salad with beef tomatoes and lettuce, and then bread to mop up all the juices and vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious. I am salivating at the thought of it and I haven’t eaten here in years. Oh and it’s a secret recipe. They won’t tell you it, not even if you beg.
