So… I’m a little bit of a sushi snob, so i’m giving this place a 4 just because of all the hype. I heard amazing things about it and so when I finally went, I was a little underwhelmed. The place itself though is quite fun. It’s got a great atmosphere, lovely staff, cool décor, yummy cocktails, and overall is a great place to go with your girlfriends for a weekday night out. The sushi was well made, and fresh, BUT my only issue is the randomness of the rolls. I tend to be a bit of a purist, so slathering cream cheese and mayo on my sushi is a huge no-no. That said the more humble sushi I got was quite good. And the other food, non-sushi, was very good as well. Overall, fun place, but if you’re looking for authentic sushi, keep looking…

The sushi is absolutely incredible! So many options, colors, and flavors. It was perfect for both sushi-lovers and not-sushi-lovers. My only complaint would be that we were a pretty large group, and the seating was not conducive to conversation, and was quite uncomfortable. Additionally, the service was pretty slow(but that’s just the voice of a New Yorker living in Europe). Our waitress, however, was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and designing our meal. In all, the food was fantastic, and was an enjoyable evening.

Good sushi, the fish is fresh. I felt like the food lacked a little creativity and took a long time though, but my perspective is shaped by the fact that I am American and live in a beach city in Southern California. I am admittedly a little impatient, so don’t hold that against them. The server we had was lovely though and we enjoyed our experience.

Super service! The waiters were excellent and took care in arranging the plates and checking in throughout our meal. The tables are big and communal, not easy to get in and out of with a skirt :) but it makes for a great atmosphere. The menu is enormous, so there is sure to be something to interest everyone. The salmon in teriyaki sauce was excellent. The sushi rolls were average. There were too many toppings and spices to be able to taste the fish. I had a green salad that was fresh, with a very mild dressing. Overall it was a fun dining experience, and I would go again, but the value for the money was not great.

Probably my favorite sushi place out of the 8 or so that I’ve tried in Copenhagen. Not really authentic, but good and consistent. The sticks are some of my favorite parts, not just the sushi. Reservations are strongly recommended, even on weeknights. Carry out is another option. Overall a great option for good, flavorful sushi.

Amazing food! Amazing service, even though we came near closing time. Amazing cocktails. I’d recommend one of the combo meals, sticks plus sushi.

Just. Go. there. I have eaten sushi in many places around the world(although I have yet to go to Japan), including some of the better places in NYC and SF and this place actually compares or is even better than some. Some of their sushi is the best I have eaten and their cooked or seared offerings blow anything else I have had out of the water. The most unbelievable part is that this is a chain: I ate in two different locations and they manage to replicate the quality of their offerings. It is pricey but worth every penny. The staff is very friendly and amazingly helpful(the second time, they had no English menu but explained any dish we enquired about… with a smile). Each place has a distinct vibe. This one, in Vesterbro, beyond the train station, was big, airy and had a trendy NYC SoHo vibe, while the one behind the Trovelharne market was in a lower half-basement with an intimate NYC West-Village café feel. A must in a city such as Copenhagen with great cuts of fish to choose from.

Amazing sushi and I’ve been to japan Not super expensive, I think it’s value for money The service is a bit slow though and it’s just a Thursday night but it’s super crowded I ordered one of the platters, really nice :) Probably looking to spend around 250 per person with drinks!

I have heard many a tale of how amazing the sushi at Sticks ‘n’ Sushi is supposed to be, so when I passed it with a very sushi hungry friend one Sunday afternoon, my thoughts were, why not? We had the place almost entirely to ourselves. I was glad, cause the tables are few and large and look like you might sit very close to other customers when the place is more crowded. This is probably very authentic, but might scare off the regular«I need my space-Scandinavian»(me included). Not being the biggest sushi fan or expert, it’s not often that I am willing to pay loads of money for it and I was a little in doubt, seeing as the prices at Sticks ‘n’ Sushi are quite steep. I chose to be a typical stingy student and ordered the smaller and cheaper stuff. Which is this case was freakin’ awesome Crispy Salmon with coriander and chili and a bite of Hamachi(Japanese white fish) nigiri, which was also very very yummy. If I’d been really hungry, I think I would have to spend quite a lot of dough to get full, but for this time, just a few bites were just perfect. Sticks ‘n’ Sushi gets a minus for being out of tuna… My friend got some good looking and very small salmon Maki and the crispy salmon with fancy water with something, we were told, was so-called active coal. Interesting. Not sure how burned wood in your water is good for you or if this is just some slightly pretentious fancy Vesterbro(or Japanese) stuff. Service-wise it might have been the best I’ve had in Cph so far. The waiters and the cooks all greet you by saying something that sounds like«Namaste»(but isn’t??), when you enter and from there on they are there to tell you everything you need to know about the menu and anything else for that matter. It’s a little unusual that they sit down next to you when taking your order, but hey, we’ve all had those sundays when standing just isn’t an option… They all also seem to get along with each other and this creates a very happy and laid-back atmosphere. Two thumbs up!

We came here on a Sunday evening, and the food and service were both excellent. There are four large tables each of which looks like it seats about 12 people, and the atmosphere is cosy and social. As for the food, this place does what it says in the title: sushi, and skewers of various bits of meat. There are two menus — one that had set dishes, and one that had all the individual components(so you can order the skewers and the sushi separately, if you know what you like). We decided to have a plate of sushi, followed by a plate of skewers along with some spare ribs, a bowl of rice, and some edamame beans. All of it was excellent, and I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Copenhagen. The waitress was lovely, and took time to explain what everything was when she brought it to us. Try and get a seat with a view of the kitchen at the back, where the chefs prepare the sushi out in the open.

went to this location after enjoying the tivoli location of this chain. walking in, i felt it was a mistake to come to this location right off the bat. there is a few large tables, so the dining is with other people you don’t know sitting at your table. not private or fine dining style. our waiter was rude. ordered two soups, one roll, and one squid salad, and one appetizer spare rib. small order, but me and my mate were very hungry and wanted to get something fast. it took the waiter ½ hour to bring us water and everything else at once. the waiter was snobby enough to point out to me that ½ hour is a short wait for fine dining! i think its nuts cuz we didn’t order any meals, just appetizers. when sitting down, we had told our waiter we r very hungry and he should have brought out the soups first. i explained that to him and he berated me. i pointed out that telling off a customer is not a good look and asked to speak with his manager. someone else came out who was very intimidating to have us pay the bill, and no one approached us saying they were the manager and to see if we needed anything. terrible place. would never recommend.

This sushi place is one of my favorite. The décor is nice and dark, with 4 big square tables that are shared, so you will be seated next to other guests. I think that is a very fun and social way of dinning. I have come here many times through out the years and think that sticks n sushi, are generally quite good and the service and food is consistence. Most waiters are very attentive and fast, I think they have one of the best services you might experience in Copenhagen. The sushi is really good fresh and you can order grilled fish sticks and meaty ones too. There is one veggie stick too. So there are different choices for you if you are a vegan.

A bit reluctantly, yesterday I went to Sticks n Sushi with an out-of-towner friend. Otherwise, I swear by Bento on Helgolandsgade, but I thought I would give this old dog a chance to show off new tricks. Good decision! For a sushi chain struggling to stand out in the infinite amount of sushi joints in Copenhagen, it seem Sticks n Sushi is doing really well. We got tempura ebi and a scallop sticks, both really delicious. Especially their tempura ebi get 2 tumbs up! We also ordered their deluxe rolls, and if you can get beyond the fact that you only get 4 different types of sushi, it was good. Their sushi is delicately made and you sense that care has gone into fondle details. Let me emphasize — you do not get Bento quality sushi. It is a 1 – 2 stars below Bento, where you can feel a more indept understanding of the Japanese cuisine. But for a non-Japanese restaurant is as good as it gets for the price. Their wine menu is really good — we got a cold and exquisite Alsace wine which just made the whole experience better. Finally, the service — so nice, attentive and friendly — there’s just something about good service that lifts the whole experience. Not least because on the way out, slightly drunk with good food and wine, we got offered a free umbrella. Yay! Who does not like free stuff? The whole thing cost just under 1000DKK, reasonably well for good sushi and formidable wine.

Entering the restaurant you see plenty of dark and big tables and the open kitchen overlooking them. It looks classy and it feels even more classy when the waitress brings you a moist, warm towel after being out in the cold all day. The expectations are high after this and maybe that’s part of the problem. After getting some help from the friendly waitress choosing from a stylish and colourful menu the food is promptly delivered. Presentation is excellent with the sushi being served on long, thin plates. Even though it all sounds good and dandy so far, it just doesn’t meet up to the expectations that have been built up beforehand. Don’t get me wrong, it is good, it’s just not as wow as it looks and some might even say it tastes a bit bland. All in all we felt that the overall look and feel of this restaurant surpassed the food served and that there are some better Sushi restaurants in the surrounding area(see my other reviews).
