I was really excited to finally have kebabs and I wanted something good, not just some random shop with meat that has been sitting in the fridge for a really long time. The staff were really nice. I asked for an English menu but they didn’t have any but informed me that there is a staff member who is very fluent in English. Luckily my friend knew Danish, so it was no problem. There was quite a variety(doner, platters, sweets, turkish pizza) and prices were pretty standard. I had the lamb kebab while my friend had the chicken shawarma(I think). There was a bit too much fat in the lamb for my liking. It was well seasoned but a little tough to chew. The bulgar was flavorful but dry… I’m a bit disappointed with the food, but somewhat enjoyable. Maybe other options taste better? The restaurant is quite spacious and it looks like there’s areas for large groups. They even have outdoor seating for days with nice weather.

Loved, loved, loved Safir Kebab. Absolutely delicious chicken and spicy lamb sausage kebabs. Terrific tabbouleh salad, yummy hummus, pita with sesames, and a special warm bulgar you would never see in US! Only downside is no wine, no beer. But a low price to pay for super authentic middle eastern helal food. No English menu but a super friendly Bulgarian waitress took our order after helping us through the menu. Call a little ahead to reserve a table. Off the beaten path, but a quick #12 or #68 bus from city centre.

Second meal here in the last month and again excellent. The bread is amazing — baked in a stone oven on site and provided to you with hummus while you wait for your meal. The food came out quickly and everything was good. Esp the grilled chicken skewers — well seasoned and moist. Great place for kids as well. Good value, very reasonable pricing.

I really feel like one of the more important things to do in life when you first move to a city is to take note of where the cheap and easy(and arguably healthy) eats are. Previously, my go-to has been Kebabistan on Istegade, which was closer to my old apartment. Tragically, it’s just a little too far away now to justify a quick stop in on the way home, so I was searching for candidates for a replacement. Safir is basically always at least half full of people. On Friday nights, there is a line out the front door. My curiosity finally got the best of me last night and I tried a simple and cheap dish(shawarma salat — 30kr) last night. It was the perfect amount of food, and the meat was very good quality. I would’ve loved a little more«salat» in the«salat» but I was definitely satisfied at the end of the meal. My dinner dates ordered the half chicken platter, which will get a vicarious thumbs up in this review. I’m also told the ayran is second to none, and a must when eating shawarma, but I went with bottled water. Living life on the edge, always. :) Considering the value and quality for the money you spend, this place is definitely worth a visit.

i might not be able to come here to get my 2am falafel, but i will definitely be back for more lunches and dinners. the shawarma and chicken dish at 59kr was filling enough for two of us; latter was a bit too salty and the former was perfect. bulgur, humus, red cabbage, and salad were all good and the bread was nicely chewy. and the huge mug of ayran ‘fresh from the tap’ with foam on top made me very happy. the music was authentic, or at least what turkish souvenir shops want us to think is authentic; i heard some of the songs in said shops and even in a kervansaray-turned-restaurant somewhere in cappodocia. it’s nice that the kids get their own play space in the back instead of sitting in their parents’ laps, getting more and more restless and upset. don’t be afraid to try some of the more unfamiliar dishes, or at least the ones unfamiliar to most pizza/shawarma/grill joints in copenhagen. i can recommend iskender kebab(though i’d prefer more bread under the meat), ali nazik kebab, and the unassuming lentil soup. sometimes i just want to visit for a bowl of that soup with bread and of course a giant glass of ayran.(:

I am always on the hunt for a good Kebab and I can not even remember the last time I sat down and actually had a plate in front of me. I always order a pita or a durum, while I enjoyed Safir Kebab I remember why. Atmosphere, service, and the quantity of food. Taking it too go and sitting outside or on the comfort of your couch is the way to go. The plate at Safir kebab was huge, and I mean a huge quantity of food. It can easily be shared between two people. The lamb was good. But it looked like the roast chicken is the way to go. They grilled and roasted in house, which is always a nice touch and it seemed as if the sides and drinks were authentic. The music was authentic as well, which is one of the reasons why sitting outside on a bench or in the park is probably the direction I will take next time around. I liked Safir Kebab and it was packed the whole time I was there, which speaks volumes about what the neighborhood people think as well. I will eat at Safir again, I liked the lamb and the young girl who helped us was very friendly. But next time I will either split the roast chicken or take something half the size to go. Bang for your buck I give it a thumbs up, but I will try again and get back to you in the next couple of weeks.
