Extreamly rude service! Had American friends on visit, and went out for a drink after. Because one of their credit cards match, the machine had a «hick ups», the old mans behind the bar extremely rude towards my guest. The only star is for the good big Cider

This is just a nice little pub/restaurant on a square in Helsingor, but the lunch hit the spot. I went with the«House Lunch Plate» — a more traditional Danish meal than I’ve been eating recently. I can get steaks and burgers and whatnot back home, so it’s time to eat more pickled herring, plaice fillets, prawns, and bread and cheese. I want to specifically call out the red currant jam. I don’t know if that’s a traditional thing, but it beats the pants off strawberry or raspberry. In any case, this was a very nice plate — two kinds of bread, three kinds of seafood, a wedge of good brie, and some fruit. Others enjoyed hamburgers, which were clearly homemade and looked quite good, but… I just feel like an ignorant American eating hamburgers abroad. Bring on the Smørrebrød!

Food was okay, and it was nice to sit outside on the sunny side of Axeltorv. We were not pleased that glasses of ice water cost DK15. That’s fair enough if the person isn’t eating, but tacked on to a full meal it made the place feel like a tourist trap. Also got annoyed at having to pay before we ate, like we were criminals that were going to run away without paying the check. Like I say, the food was fine, we had a couple of burgers that were really big, but we left with a bad taste in our mouth because of the other things I mentioned.

I have seen this place listed as an Irish pub on a couple of websites. It does kind of look like one inside and has the drinks that you would expect to find in an irish pub, but all the Danish and Swedish flags(and the name!) should give an indication that that categorization is not quite right. I’m sure the bartender was Danish. Whatever it isit is a friendly place to come. I’d actually say it was a beer bar as they have an interesting selection of beers. I saw a couple I had never encountered before, a mo(funnysymbol)rk guld and a ‘wee heavy’(fortunately this was not the case later!). There don’t seem to be too many good places to drink in this town, but this place is definitely worth a look if you like your beer.
