Visually, this is a hip place to be. I’ve been here a couple times, mainly for coffee, and it is average. I also had«nachos» which were on par with what I have tried in other places in Denmark; meaning not really nachos but chips with some shredded cheese melted on and cups of salsa and crème fraîche on the side.(Let me know if you find good nachos in Copenhagen.) More recently I tried the brunch plate containing meat(125 dkk), which was ok but unfortunately not on the level of better brunch places here. Yoghurt: nice with granola and a drizzle of honey. Pancake: delicious but just a wee morsel with a couple blueberries. On the menu it said it would be made with cottage cheese and thyme but I am pretty sure that wasn’t it. Fruit: a little cluster of grapes, some very small slices of apple, and a slice of orange. Not very exciting but they were fresh. Sausage: just ok, although I am not a huge fan of sausages in general. It came with remoulade but aren’t you supposed to eat that with fish? It felt a bit out of place. Bacon: at least 4 nice and crisp pieces. Eggs: basic scrambled eggs. Tomato jam: is it jam? I think it could have been cooked a bit longer, the tomato just ends up being a bit wilted. Potatoes: basic roasted potatoes, on the crispy side. On the menu it says it comes with radish salad, which I didn’t see. Bread: a little stingy on the rye bread; you get two small slices. Ham: it was ok. I’m glad it came with some stronger mustard. Almost everything was«just ok.» Although you have to order at the bar and take your own utensils, the service is otherwise good and even friendly. This seems like a place to go to be seen or have a date with a hipster. I’d rather get my food somewhere else.

We went for brunch and had a great experience. We both ordered the meat brunch platter, which came with a healthy portion of everything from scrambled eggs to bacon to sausage to potatoes to yogurt to pancakes to fruits to bread. Everything seemed fresh and of high quality. I particularly enjoyed the yogurt — it was possibly the best I had ever had. I loved the ambience as well. Both hip and posh, the place felt like it could host a small jazz ensemble if one wanted to. Service was overall okay, though it was a mix of self-service and table service. We had to order at the bar, bring our own cutlery from the bar and pay at the bar, though they did come to serve our food. Overall, a great place to have a quality brunch if you’re in the area!

Von Fressen is a place I actually end up going to quite often. I’m a fan of their brunch — one of the few places that have real, viable vegan options, which is great for when my vegan sister comes to visit. Their blueberry pancakes are an absolute must! I also like their salads and sandwiches for lunch — and their staple: burgers! Their menu is not too extensive, but what they do, they do really well. Staff is always very friendly, but I’m not a huge fan of the«order at the bar» setup — especially not when it’s food and not just drinks. Speaking of drinks, their cocktails are delicious, with solid amounts of booze, and their four signature cocktails are 2-for-1 for 90kr during happy hour and 2-for-1 for 150kr all other times, a really good price for Copenhagen. The atmosphere is always cozy and a bit quirky — German-inspired, but as a native German, I don’t actually see a lot of German-ness, apart from the names of the food and drinks. A definite go-to place for me in Vesterbro!

Spent a few hours at Von Fressen and had some very nice cocktails with the girls. The bartenders were always nice pleasant to talk to. Will definitely go back.

Yes yes yes. I am in a complete state of content after these blueberry pancakes. At first I was slightly anxious about my ability to finish them all(in the Mindset of American diners) but they come in just the right size and portion, with grapes and a slice of orange on the side, making the dining a consciensious experience. Today was perfect blue skies so we dined outside under the sun with our German beers(I had the golden — went down easy like syrup) and with fine company it can not be more perfect. They put a lot of thought and heart into the decoration — cocktails dedicated to German philosophers(Walter Benjamin: D and more). To top it off, the bartenders are more than friendly and greet you with a smile.

Adorable space. Kitchy decorations. Excellent food and, wait for it, DRINKSPECIALS! My bf and I had been walking past Von Fressen for the week we stayed in Copenhagen and only popped in on our last two nights. Major mistake. We could have happily eaten and drank every night away. Happy hour meant 2 for 1 house cocktails, and they were delicious. Plus so many food options. Personally I got a kick out of discovering that the bartender had visited the city I live in and stayed in my hood. It really is a small world after all.

Delicious, filling sandwich for DKK75 and a small beer, sitting outside at a table in the sun. Good and quick service and friendly staff.

We had Hummus & Oliven and some vine. Both was good. Very nice ambience! It’s a self service place though.

This place is soooo good when it is full, the atmosphere is amazing. Everything in this place seems just pulled together from different eras, different styles, different businesses that have closed down… but as an ensemble of mish-mashed bits and bobs, it works really well as a bar. The owner, Emmanuelle(hope I spelled that correctly), is a great guy, knows how to keep people happy and is very approachable. They have a range of speciality beers on tap, even have Anchor Steam(San Francisco Beer) and they do their own pancakes with homemade ‘Nutella’ — basically chocolate sauce with hazelnuts in but is damn nice, a bit stodgy and heavy in the stomach, but what else was I expecting from pancakes? The cocktails are amazing too, highly recommend the one with ginger in it. I can’t remember the name, or the other ingredients, it was all written in Danish and I just pointed… do the same, usually works out ok for me :)

Great bar with period décor on Vesterbrogade. We usually end up here to cheer on FC København in the Champions league, in which case get in early to get a table where you can have dinner too. The goulash and the burger are highlights.
