I’ve been to see Tøjhusmuseet’s impressive weapons collection three times. It’s such a fascinating and macabre look into human history to follow the development and evolution of weaponry from the Middle Ages up through the world wars to modern warfare. A quick detour to the majestic samurai warrior culture is also on display. They have everything from lances, swords and katanas to tommy guns, hand grenades and heavy machine guns. And the entrance is free.

Beautiful building and interior(especially the second floor), but the fact that such a beautiful place is a museum dedicated to war and human violence is horrific. The only reason we visited was the Lord of the Rings exhibit. Which turned out to only have a small space on the second floor. Loved the atmospheric music that accompanied the exhibit, but the exhibit itself was very small and unimpressive. Nice to meet Gollum though! Free entrance(thank goodness!).
