A great South Indian palce — a rarity in these parts of the world. The South Indian, as the name suggests, specializes in South Indian food. This is different from the North Indian food you find in Indian restaurants here, which are more focussed on dishes that go well with Naan or other wheat-based breads. Southern Indian cuisine is typically more rice-based. The specialties here are dosas — thin rice pancakes, uthappas — like dosas, only thicker, and idlis — steamed rice cakes. These are to be had with a variety of savory fillings — chutneys, dals, or even chicken. The place is pretty authentic and the food has been great the two times I’ve been there. The service is friendly and the food arrives quickly and piping hot — the way it should be if you want to enjoy it best. I do recommened booking in advance if you plan to go there on a weekend. The place does not hold more than 25 people and can get filled up fast. I normally go for the ‘Dosa Dosa Dosa’, which is great value for money. You play something like 175DKK and get unlimited dosas and chutneys. Best to enjoy that on an empty stomach. :) Highly recommended.
