The Parma sandwich is one of my favorite sandwiches in the world. It’s perfectly balanced with the pesto and mozzarella cheese. I like how the sprouts are used in addition to the lettuce and tomato. The warm, but not toasted, bread adds to the perfection. It’s not cheap at 64 kr. But well worth it. I will continue coming back to get this sandwich whenever I visit Copenhagen.

I loved eating here while I was studying abroad in Copenhagen. The sandwiches are made really quickly and always taste great. My favorite is the avocado sandwich – they are super generous with the avocado! The prices are good compared to other restaurants and cafes nearby. I would totally recommend this place!

Stumbled upon here since I was hungry and on a tight budget. I’ve heard of sandwich pigen so many times now so I thought it’d be time to try it. I got the club sandwich and BOYWASITEFFIN’ GOOD. The bread was like a baguette and it was super crunchy, the chicken was skinless and topped with a savory dressing. There were also little sprouts in it. I don’t know what but it was soooo good. The bacon was the best part, it was so crunchy and not greasy at all. The sandwich is also filled with lettuce and tomatoes. If you mention you’re with DIS you get a discount, so from being 54 kr, it was 48.50! Least to say I may be back again.

Copenhagen is an expensive city as anyone who has lived or visited it knows. It’s even worse though if you’re a student like me trying to stretch every dollar so you can take advantage of every happy hour come the weekend. Out of necessity then, I had to search for decent lower-cost lunch spots, and Sandwich Pigen is one of them. For around 50KR for a decent sized sandwich or 60KR for a hefty salad, you can get a decent meal without draining your wallet. For those not Danish inclined, there is an English menu on the counter which you can use; the staff also speaks English so don’t despair! For the salads, the frikadeller(meatballs) and laks(cured salmon with dill and lime) are my favorites. Frikadeller aren’t the puny meatballs one might be used to in the States or even in neighboring Sweden. The meatballs are BIG, tasty, a tad on the salty side, and nice and soft and moist on the inside. The salmon is also good — not too salty, tender, and not overly fishy. Salads come standard with green salad with pesto and pasta salad for the most part, though you can option out the creamy potato salad for one or both other salads without much fuss. Round off the salad is a nice warm hunk o’ bread with butter. I also tried the chicken and bacon salad which was okay but not as good at the other salads I’ve tried. The chicken was dry and had an odd, cooked days ago taste and texture. As for sandwiches, the frikadeller sandwich is good and i served with a smear of pink beet juice infused hummus and plenty of greens and pickles. The sandwiches are pretty sizable too, though for a little more, you can get much more food in salad form for not much more money. But if you want portability, their sandwiches pretty good. As for space and service, it should be noted that there is next to no seating here — there is only a small counter and two small tables outside. There is a large square right outside(Gammeltorv) and plenty of parks in Copenhagen though. Service is quick and efficient, and as I mentioned, they speak English which is plus. Another thing to know, if you happen to be studying at DIS like I am, they offer 10% off to students. Overall, Sandwich Pigen is a good little lunch spot. Don’t expect anything fancy, but if you want a solid, budget friendly place to eat, you’ll be just fine here.
