Living on Bispebjerg in the NV area of Copenhagen I’m thankful that I have Måltid(the name means«Meal» in English) around the corner. There aren’t a lot of good places to eat at around here, but at Måltid I always get good food, competently prepared from good ingredients, and served with a smile. It’s a small place with the public area divided into two rooms. In the first room you’ll find a counter where you can order take away, or if you’re just here for a quick cup of coffee you can sit here on a barstool by a big window overlooking Bispebjerg Torv. The second room holds a few tables for guests who dine at the place — I’ve never bothered with reservations and this has never been a problem, but I tend to come here mostly on weekdays so you might want to if you’re visiting on a Friday or Saturday night. The menu changes on a monthly basis, and it normally offers a choice of around five each of starters and main courses. Good use is made of the ingredients currently in season and there’s always something on the menu that appeals to me. The style is fairly traditional Danish with a modern touch. Prices are reasonable, but you can certainly find somewhere cheaper — a main dish will set you back around 150 – 200 kroner and a starter around 100.
