I’ve always harbored a love for myth, fairy tales, folklore, and dead languages, so when I found this I was totally excited. However, that quickly diminished as Google Maps screwed us over and we braved the cold… for a «house» attached to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. You actually go inside Ripley’s to pay for a ticket, 65DKK for HCA, or 103DKK for HCA/Ripley’s student discounted combo. Exhibits inside were very juvenile, with HCA’s main stories told in Danish, English, or German(you can push a button). You can also read along. The story exhibits were not well made, and designed very poorly. The Little Mermaid was kind of ugly. The heart of the tin soldier was a Dove chocolate(WTF). The Little Matchstick Girl looked like a demon out of hell. Thumbelina rotated around while the creepy toad audio played in the background, «I want her!». Oh, and the rat from the sewage in the tin soldier? It’s here, and scared the bajeezus out of us, so be careful with young kids. The whole thing felt like a tourist trap(65DKK to get in) if it weren’t for the original transcript of the Philosopher’s Stone, of which I will attach a picture for you and save you the money of going inside. PRO-TIPS: use for your travel accomodations. if not, it’s literally on the other side of Stroget, or opposite from Tivoli. tl;dr: great for kids 10 and under, 65DKK to get in, and a handful of actual artifacts(HCA’s one banned book, a few of his other bound books from that era, and the original pages of the Philosopher’s Stone). We stayed for every audio play of stories and lingered in all the areas, and the whole thing was over in about 35 minutes.
