I found this little gem yesterday and I had the best food and service so far in Copenhagen. It’s small, but seems to be popular. The owner(?) was incredibly knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. NOTE: If you’re visiting from outside of Denmark, make sure to bring cash. Due to its small size, the restaurant only accepts Danish credit cards.

This place is incredible. The food is delicious and extremely well priced(especially for Copenhagen! it was 60kr for a small portion, 78kr for a large, and they had other options that were a little more expensive but included bread and soup). Check their website to see what dishes they’re serving each day(the menu rotates but they always feature 2 dishes plus a rice dish and soup). We had spiced rice, spinach paneer, and some kind of vegetable curry with cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli. I also had a mango lassi which was excellent(15dkk for a small) and as we were leaving they gave us each a free mini white chocolate dessert of sorts. Fabulous. Also, they have a discount for students and you save an extra 10%! But beyond the food and prices, this place gets 5 stars for the service as well. The owners are super friendly. My friend and I didn’t realize that they only accepted Danish kroner or Danish credit cards(we were out of cash and had been getting by with Norwegian and American credit cards before), so they let us eat our meal and then told us where to find an ATM nearby. It was all on the honor system– they didn’t make us feel bad at all and were completely trusting that we would come back. There are a few tables with seats, so you can sit and eat there if you want. If you’re visiting Copenhagen(whether you’re a vegetarian, poor student, or just lover of delicious Indian food, etc), you HAVE to check this place out. It’s a local treasure.

This is the new location of the original Govinda in town(no longer in Nørre Farimagsgade, I learnt the hard way) is managed by Hare Krishnas. As you would expect the food is vegetarian indian fare, super-yummy and very reasonably priced. The menu changes often, but never disappoints. And they get extra points for being so smiley :)
