Excellent cheesemonger with great products and equally good service to support the store. Although one may only think of the blue sort when asked about Danish cheese, this stall shows off a nice variety of cheeses that are unique to this brand. One in particular, Twenty Thousand Leagues, is a collaboration with Mikkeller as a blue cheese soaked in one of their very strong beers(Black) for 20 days. The result is a layered, fruity taste that I haven’t seen in any other cheese. If you try one thing from this stall, let it be that! The employees working behind the counter are very nice and will let you try just about any of their cheeses.

This was a lovely cheese shop that we visited while in Copenhagen. We went as part of a tasting tour and tried three cheeses and two different apple brandy drinks. The staff was friendly, the cheese was wonderful and the selection was large. It is a great place to try cheese or get a nice selection while in town. It is easy to pick up bread or crackers as well as other accompaniments while in the market.

John Gynther of Arla Unika is an interesting man. Dedicated to using the tenants of the New Nordic Cuisine, to start making new types of Danish cheeses. I have been a benefactor of a number of his cheeses. Gnalling, Krondild, Hogelundgaard are all excellent cheese you can get here. I thought the French were great at dairy but ive come to realize the Danes have won me over in that comparison. I guess the seeking of new experiences has lined me up with Unika’s unique twists on the Danish age old traditions. They’re bringing back raw milk cheese, mixing flavor profiles, and adding new elements to what you’d think is unusual. A great pioneer in dairy. You’ll generally find a lot of their cheeses in the fine dining restaurant in the area too!
