I recently visited Yio Chu Kang Stadium to participate in a real life escape room game from the Walled City.(It was based off this popular animé; it’s totally cool, I promise!) The structure is «old» in Singapore standards; a light Google search tells me it was built in ’85. Though a bit dinky looking, it gets the job done– apparently this place can seat 2000 people! The covered stands only occupy one side of the stadium, with the smaller stands on the other side being uncovered. There’s a track that goes around the field, and it looks pretty new. According to MyactiveSG, it’s free admission to jog from 4:30AM — 8:30PM! The field is also a grass field, no astroturf. One thing I didn’t remember seeing is a scoreboard. There was a huge TV screen set up at the opposite end of the field, but I’m not sure if it was specially for the event. Admittedly, walking into the stadium brought back memories of my high school marching band days(yes, my glory days = marcher of the year!) Explains everything, doesn’t it? :)
