Walked past this place on my way home, and saw a queue of about 4 people for this, and thought it must be good. Paid my $ 5 for a mutton biryani to go. Got home and dismantled(I mean, deconstructed; okay I kid) it on a plate and was pleasantly surprised at how moist the rice was. There was 3 juicy pieces of mutton within, and for $ 5, one can’t complain. Bismillah down the road, I’m looking at you! The mutton was a wee bit gamey, but I was quite satisfied overall. They include a packet of curry but the rice is so moist I wouldn’t miss it even if they didn’t. I came here on another occasion for a takeaway, and there was lesser mutton within, cue sadface. But for the price, can you really get better elsewhere? They charge extra if you want a boiled egg or papadums.

I not only stumbled upon Tekka Centre, but I stumbled upon Yakader itself. Later on, I googled it and found out that I apparently stumbled upon a gem. Makes sense — it was fantastic. Tekka Centre itself is a great mix of Chinese and Indian, with some Malay thrown in. A good«one stop fits all» food centre. But I really came here for Indian, and decided dum biryani was the best bet. Chicken, specifically. The line was decently long but went quick. My biryani looked fantastic, and the taste was excellent. Chicken was succulent, the rice was hugely flavorful. Everything was in balance, and the curry added a nice extra flavor with a hint of spice. Yakader is really, really delicious.
