A nice cosy restaurant that serves up really good pasta and pizza. If you are not that hard up for mains and feel like just sharing the appetizers, they have a really good selection too! The pumpkin salad that is served with the whole pumpkin is so filling and rich, it could jolly well be a main! The nuts really adds to the texture, giving it a little crush to the starchy pumpkin. The grilled calamari is really tasty with a zest of acidity. Overall balanced flavour leaving you wanting for more. As the kitchen is small, food will take time to serve. However, the quality of the food is worth the wait. It’s also an open concept where you can look into the kitchen this the kitchen fumes does fill up the tiny restaurant. If you’re going to have a meeting post-lunch, you might just want to avoid this place for lunch.

Oh my gosh, truly an unassuming little gem tucked inside Waterloo, surounded by hawker centers. The place is super small and boasts nothing fancy, but that’s exactly why it’s an awesome find. We shared the clam with white wine sauce appetizer($ 13), I had the rib eye with truffle mash($ 42), shared a bottle of house wine($ 38) and ended the night with shared tiramisu($ 8). Talk about affordable, simple and delicious! Each dish was so delightful and has that hint of homecooked-ness in it. The place also does not charge gst or service, so you get nice rounded numbers on your receipt. I appreciate the simplicity and unpretentiousness, which seems to be the theme of this place. Just go, before they got too popular.

This place is an interesting find as I didn’t expect such a quaint little place in Waterloo Street which is more famous for the chicken rice at the food court and dance lessons. The place looks pretty small. according to the staff, it can seat a maximum of about 30. It’s quiet despite being dinner time and what caught my attention were two boys(about 8 – 12 years of age) in school uniform running about the place. My first thought was«Hm. children of the owner perhaps?» What was heartening to know was that the chef, seated them down and patiently took down their orders despite the kids being a little bit haughty(in my opinion) towards him. After that, another chef came in(I noticed they didn’t really have a serving staff but that may be due to how small the place is.) and took over serving the children. only then I realized, they were both customers. And I was impressed with how professionally they treated the children. just like any other guests without questioning why two young boys are in here alone and all that.(Later, I found out they were children of the chicken rice stall owner opposite the place.) Anyway, back to what we had. We ordered a romaine salad consisting of boiled eggs, bacon and cheese, which was quite delicious(go and take a look at the images) and it costs about $ 7. Don’t just look at their menu, look at their walls where they write down the specialties in chalk. I ordered the Ribeye steak with black pepper sauce and mashed potatoes $ 25 in medium rare, my mom had the Salmon pasta in white wine sauce $ 20, my sister had their BBQ chicken with ham at $ 16. When the food came, not only were the presentation mouthwatering, the servings were quite good, as were the qualities of the ingredients. I tasted truffle oil in their mashed potatoes, the steak was juicy and the black pepper sauce did not taste like the typical black pepper sauce(diluted and peppery), it had a nice thick creamy taste to it with a mild hint of black pepper. definitely a must try. My sister’s BBQ chicken was moist and tender. I didn’t get to try my mom’s pasta but it looked good. My dad came by later and ordered the seafood pasta and the lamb rack $ 26. The lamb was also tender and juicy. We then ordered the strawberry shortcake $ 6 and the bitter truffle tart $ 6. The strawberry shortcake was served warm and it’s so fluffy and moist that when you mix it with the whipped cream served at the side, it literally melts in your mouth. The bitter truffle tart was also delicious! The total bill was $ 124, no GST, nothing additional. What you see on the menu is what you get and given the high quality of the food and the servings, I’ll say this place is definitely one of the best places to go to for pasta(since my dad kept exclaiming the pasta is one of the best he has ever tried). In my personal opinion, this place is definitely a hidden treasure within Waterloo Center that must be visited. Note: Spoke to the staff a bit about this place and here’s a tip, they are closed on Saturdays!
