This place is right next to my office, so I thought we were in luck when we came down on a Friday for lunch(around 1pm almost) and found no line and seats available! Unfortunately. this was a ruse. Despite the supposed lack of busyness, it still took almost half an hour to get our food. Granted, there were a few tables of large parties. But waiting that long for food at 1pm is no fun. And you also come out of there smelling very strongly of claypot. The claypot itself was hearty, a lot of rice, burnt crisp if you don’t mix it up quick enough. The parts that you manage to salvage from burning though, do get nice and crisp. Fair amount of chicken, some veg. Not bad, but not amazing.

A very solid and seemingly popular lunch choice, Uncle Sam’s has a broad range of claypot and non-claypot dishes to choose from under $ 10. I particularly enjoy the chicken clay pots and love that I can add more chilli to add some kick. It’s a very large serve so good value, but not a sensible option for those on the atkins diet. The noodles also look decent. Service is quick and efficient although I would definitely not call it friendly. The drinks are a pretty small size and ask for half sugar in your ice tea… we had to send ours back as it was so sweet it was sickening and I wasn’t even sure if it was iced tea!!! Oh and ladies, despite the air con comfort, do be prepared for your hair to reek of garlicky smoke after visiting!

Considered quite a big restaurant in the area. This place offers different varieties of claypot dish. Claypot noodle, Claypot rice with different ingredient of your choice are on the menu. It will be a good choice for lunch with air conditioned and good services. A place to discuss business and work. Another thing that I look for in Claypot store is that they need to at least be able to serve their order in 15mins. And that is especially important for working adults during lunch hour. Food is average and not fantastic but still satisfied overall.

Once you step in you know you’re in a claypot restaurant with pretty bad ventilation — it smells so strongly of smoke and burnt rice, which although may be appetising to hungry diners, its one of the reasons that I don’t like going there if I have to go back into the office after lunch. So if the smell bothers you, or your colleagues for that matter — I wouldn’t recommend it for lunch. That said, the service is pretty good — lots of Aunties around who although are a fairly boisterous group, they are eager and quick to serve. I was there for about 15 minutes waiting for friends and they didn’t mind letting me occupy the table to wait despite the growing lunch crowd which was nice. Food is average — just what you’d expect from a claypot place, portions of rice are big, the rice is crisp slightly burnt and salty at the bottom, but for the price they could probably have added more meat to their servings.
