I’ve patronised UM twice, after having a lightbulb moment that it’d be a bizarre yet fun birthday present. Armed with a budget of $ 100, I spoke with the friendly and laid back staff — they were having a mini jam session and hastened to help me out. After confessing I was a uke noob, they kindly gave me a 101 lowdown, pointing out the various tones, woods and shapes. I settled on a couple of pineapples, tuning thingys, and a some cute badges. The ukes came in adjustable zippered casings, one of which has since gone moldy(why?). I walked out pretty satisfied, and am happy to report that the ukes were met with much appreciation.
