Located at 100am is Tsujiri’s biggest outlet, they also have another outlet at clarke quay and a little kiosk in somerset. They were having a promotion for their float drinks, it sounds like $ 6 is a great deal, but you’re actually only saving 50 cents if you choose the matcha soft serve. They have a wide range of desserts and drinks, all mainly focused around matcha or tea. 1. Uji-Kintoki $ 6.20 With all the bingsu craze going on, I’m still game for Japanese offerings like this. Yes the green tea syrup was sweet and at once the ice started melting and it will! It became a very sweet«green tea» syrupy drink. The red beans at the bottom added even more sweetness to the drink. Uji-KintokiI do like the way it is presented and you can easily get this to go and walk your way back to Tanjong Pagar MRT which is just a block away. It would be completely melted by then too! It’s basically made of shaved ice with green tea syrup on the top with two mochi balls and a layer of red beans at the middle. 2. O-Maccha Float $ 6 Everyone is always going crazy about how«authentic» some places have their matcha ice cream. The bitterness is what people go by or how«icy» it can be. But to me, it’s a balance between sweet and bitterness. Tsujiri’s one really isn’t too sweet but it really melts too fast

my favourite japanese dessert place at the moment — located in this nondescript open café in the new 100am mall. it’s a menu that looks pretty large — but all permutations of sweet-cooked beans, green tea in liquid and soft-serve form, jellies, mochi and a bit of cake. not a problem — because I love all those things — but the only option for a non-matcha-lover(other than to unbefriend them) is the vanilla soft-serve. it’s a expertly-portioned bit of confectionary: sized to be satisfying without any too-muchness, and small enough so it still feels exquisite — even if you are eating out of plastic cups. we came thrice in two weeks — and particularly enjoy the parfaits. the just-sweet-enough soft-serve actually tastes of good matcha, and there’s good dairy in it, too(which is why the vanilla also tastes great). the mochi was nice for a sit-down snack, liberally dusted with kinako and matcha; but I didn’t think the chiffon cake anything special — it was a little too dry and uninteresting. these don’t come cheap — especially when you consider that you’re sitting in a tiny casual place and everything is essentially prepared beforehand; but the quality is fantastic, the serving sizes reasonable, and those adorably-polite japanese staff so engagingly affable you feel like you could be in japan once again.

Someone told me this was the best matcha ice cream they’d ever had. and when I raised the idea that Nana’s green tea was pretty good, they assured me that this was better. I think not. I got the signature shiratama parfait, and sure, it’s piled high with stuff… it just wasn’t as satisfying. I concede that the matcha soft-serve ice cream is certainly good, but the rest of it wasn’t so spectacular. The mochi and kanten were large in comparison to the cup they were served in, and everything below the matcha soft serve felt less tasty then I expected. My expectations have gone through the roof after Nana’s parfait. am I now a matcha dessert snob? I shudder at the thought.

I know this place gets rave reviews, but the prices – ouch it hurts! Down one star. And lack of skimmed milk? Down another star. I hate to be a Gwyneth Paltrow, but honestly, in this day and age, I would have never stepped in if the line at Starbucks wasn’t so long. Not to mention, for the price, the tea isn’t even organic. I’m not much of a dessert person(though I love and crave chocolate every meal,) but I’ll def be by later to try the matcha parfait Clarissa L.recommended. So far I’ve only tried the matcha latte and original green tea and wasn’t too impressed, especially when it was $ 6 a cup with full cream milk.

I had a tsujiri shaved ice to share, as the portion looked really big. Oh, I so regret the decision! The matcha ice cream was delicious, not too sweet and a slight bitter after taste. The mochi was chewy and the matcha shaved as was flavorful and had a nice icy crunch. I didn’t try the red bean since I’m not a fan. Service was friendly and the Japanese lady behind the counter was very helpful in steering our choice to this yummy dessert!

I described my matcha parfait as balm for the soul :) After having a somewhat crappy day/being in a bad mood, this was the perfect pick-me up. Couldn’t decide between this($ 7.50), or $ 7.80 for either the anmitsu parfait(with mixed fruit, mixed mochi and agar jelly) or the shiratama parfait(mochi and agar jelly), but the cornflakes won out. Also cos I didn’t quite feel like mochi. Matcha ice cream was really good! Not too sweet. Plus a layer of crunchy cornflakes(luckily these weren’t sweet), and red bean paste underneath(this was a bit too sweet, would’ve liked more ice cream to balance it out or less paste maybe: p) and a little more ice cream underneath. Choc wafers were a nice touch too! Went really well with the ice cream. Which incidentally tasted somewhat like a soft serve, texture-wise. Will definitely be back to try the others!
