Brought to you by Fatboy’s Concept, Burger Bar recently replace the coffee chop that was at the Day’s Hotel, which was always empty. Judging from my recent visit, the Burger Bar is doing a nice job fulfilling a demand for burgers on Balestier, as the pace was packed at 9pm on a Saturday night. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries to go, and I was not disappointed. The one weakness has to be the bun again. Seems like the obsession for a soft bun in Singapore, while great for cold sandwiches and on its own, is quite difficult for a juicy burger. The liquid totally overwhelms the buns and the bun crumbles. But let’s also talk about what Burger bar does right. The patty was solid and so were the fries. The price point is very good — $ 8 – 10 for a burger, $ 3.50 ad more for fries. Definitely a place that you can come to weekly without breaking the bank, for a decent burger and fries.
