Ok. I had a dead product out of the box, I complained, they apologized but didn’t really do anything about it, I was inconvenienced, they sent me a Starbucks gift card. I am still pleasantly surprised by this most uncharacteristic gesture from a Singapore business. So I’m going to stop muttering mean things about TC.
If you’ve ever dealt with businesses stateside, then you know what I’m talking about when I say that they will absolutely bother to do that extra little thing that just amazes you so much that they essentially have your loyalty for life. These are small touches like a car dealership sending someone to pick up a package or dry cleaning for you so your stuff’s ready with your car when you pick it up after work. The next time you’re looking for a car you remember that little gesture and you are inclined to give them that precious first shot at your business.
Businesses in Singapore tend to be very transactional and by that I mean they tend to nickle and dime you to death. It may just be an Asian attitude to business, which is «We are not friends so I have no incentive to do anything extra for you. Trade or don’t. Don’t expect anything more. » Very few businesses realize that the cost of a unit sale in exchange for lifetime of customer loyalty is a good trade! This may be because many businesses in Singapore don’t expect to be around long enough to have repeat customers. These are the same businesses that are baffled when they actually fold because they have no repeat customers!
TC has been around a while so they must be doing something right. I’ve only just had dealings with them acquiring SONOS products and on the whole they’ve been helpful and knowledgeable. By Singapore service standards, they’re pretty great! But they could be doing so much better if they just leveled up their service game. Of course, it’s likely just me since most Singaporeans are willing to put up with little or no service or even bad service.
But I’ll close this review by giving TC a thumbs up by way of encouragement! Good for you, TC! Keep it up and maybe consider leveling up?
