For me this is the place, I get a bite to eat before I head off to one the many South East Asia Locales I frequent. The food at Tai Hing is(i) better than plane food and(ii) better than the food that’s offered in the SQ Kris flyer gold Lounge. Wah Liao. The Dim Sum is far from you would expect from a local Chinatown, but it gets the job done. I personally order the Shu Mai, Spare Ribs and the Bean Curd(my fave). Unfortunately, White rice is only available past 11am! Boo. I second the other Unilocalers that the service here is indeed atrocious. The servers don’t ever seem to enjoy their job when I ever come. When you ask for something, it’s as if you bothered them. To compensate, just factor in a 40min eating session at the restaurant, if you are mindful of the time and flight schedule.

Service: rude, rude, rude. Ignore customers, chatting then pretending they didn’t hear you Time: It takes FOREVER. 20 mins later, I told staff just wrap it for me to take out. They obviously ignored my request again. In the end I had to rush without my food. Food: bad

Oh Tai Hing, how excited when I spotted you in T2, like an old friend in a strange country. Was that really you? Or just someone who looks like you? Alas, you are not the same Tai Hing back home. Your char siew doesn’t quite taste the the same, not charred enough and why on earth was I not allowed to order 2 meat combo with rice? Isn’t «shuang ping»(雙拼) every char chan tang patron’s natural right? The milk tea is good though I have to give you that. And despite your various shortcomings and having become high maintenance, I know deep down I will return again and again, whenever I find myself in T2, because I am a long way from home.

It’s okay. Not too expensive for airport food. I haven’t been to any other Tai Hings worldwide so I can’t really compare. My friends and I were feeling a bit under the weather after arriving from cold, cold Korea in the winter, so we were looking for something easy on the stomach. And tada, on the way to our gate, we see a dimsum place with congee! I got a pork congee with century egg. It was quite soothing for the stomach. Drinks aren’t that cheap though, besides bottled water. The servers don’t really seem to understand English. Some don’t understand Mandarin either. I thought this was Singapore, where everyone understood English at least and the East Asian people would understand Mandarin… At least they understood our order, but there’s no free water. and they failed to give us napkins.

Tai Hing, located at Changi Airport Terminal 2(after immigration), is a Hong Kong style café(cha chaan teng). However, the food tastes nothing like the one in Hong Kong. Food is mediocre at best and not value for money. I would not recommend dining here since there are heaps of food choices around. Very disappointing because I love Tai Hing.
