Over pice! The wing is nice. Food served portion is big… But taste is so so, nothing fantastic about it. Don’t think will come often.

Eating out in Singapore alone is depressing. You have to jostle with everyone else to get a seat and when you do, you can’t split yourself up to chope the table and order simultaneously. At hawker centres, one end up roaming back and forth looking to scalp a corner seat, quickly wolf down whatever is ordered and get the hell out. So I looked forward to him coming to Singapore. That gives me the opportunity to take him out to discover the Singaporean food scene. Things I have always wanted to try but never did(on my own). And finally to enjoy his dining company and the food. Sunset Grill was on top of my list because so much have been mentioned by so many friends. Having dinner here is like being in an improv theatre. That night when we were there, this group of friends was sitting right across us and they made the bold attempt to finish 12 wings between the 3 guys at the off-menu hotness level. The 4 others chickened out(pun unintended). Whilst we were sweating away at our level 1’s they were huffing and puffing their way through level 35’s. One could not talk, one ended up looking faint and the last person was sweating profusely, we could see their girlfriend’s worry break through the make-up. We both ended up highly entertained as we cheered them on. Many say that Singapore is boring. But I beg to differ. Fun is what you make of the situation. Him and me, we do the most boring stuff. We eat, watch movies, shop, gym & swim and after he leaves for home, work. But everytime I was with him, somehow there is always a new sensation, a new experience and a new story to tell. Unfortunately, the story with him has ended for now.

So this place is famous for its spicy buffalo wings, levels 1 — 35. I love buffalo wings so I was really excited to try this. Imagine my shock when the buffalo wings arrived with a side of… tartar sauce! We thought it must have been a mistake and asked for the ranch dressing, but they don’t have that. You can choose between tartar sauce or… thousand island dressing. I don’t think it’s overdramatic to say that the experience was sacrilegious, to say the least. That being said, yes the chicken wings were incredibly spicy, as promised. We tried a level 4 and 6. Jerry’s is definitely still the best place to go in Singapore for a buffalo wings fix.

I agree with the other reviewer and miss this place when it was by the airbase… actually, right by the airfield! The regular food is okay, but service is great. If you don’t come here for the view anymore, then it really is for the buffalo wings! On the menu, they are rated by spiciness from 1 to 10. I can’t hand spiciness like I used to, and I am already sweating at level 4! The main intrigue here is the off menu level. Right around when they opened(by the airfield), 1 to 10 spiciness levels were it. My co-workers started coming here and taking us «visitors» for the challenge. Some of my co-workers can handle it easily going up to 9 and then 10 easy. Some time ago, the local team was able to get level 11 and then 30!(I know — big jump from 10. At this point, I think it just depends on how fast you want to burn your taste buds). On our last visit, the«visitors» were able to take the latest level 35! You have been warned… HOT and SPICY! Don’t forget to order a pitcher of milk.

If you had asked me earlier this year, I would have said this was one of the coolest and most romantic place to go to in Singapore at an affordable price. Sunset used to be located at the Singapore Flying Club old club house at 140B Piccadilly in Seletar Airbase where you could see planes taking off and landing as you enjoy your beer and wings in the sunset. For that, I had to give it one star less because there’s really nothing spectacular about the food but the atmosphere made everything extra special. Sadly, it’s now moved to Jalan Kayu and I’ve not had a chance to try it yet. Nonetheless, most people visit Sunset Grill and Pub for its famous buffalo wings. Those devil wings are rated 1 to 10 in spiciness level. To be honest, the missus and I never bothered to try anything pass level 1 because we’d like to keep our taste buds intact and functioning to taste the nuances in our food. But many people like to go there to challenge themselves. By all means! They do serve some carrot and celery sticks with the wings to help clean the palette. Usually missus would order extra servings of raw veg(at a price) to help tahan the spice. We can only hope that the food standards have not changed and the ambience of Jalan Kayu is half as good as its former location.
