I ordered the red thai chicken curry. The chicken was tough and not that flavorful. The service was really bad. The had a $ 10 menu that we ordered from and then when we got the bill they charged us regular price. I got it adjusted. Also the $ 9 beer came in a really small glass. I will never eat here again!

Lunch specials are priced well for singapore but this is one of those places that ambush you with hidden charges that add up… They dont offer house water. You have to purchase bottled water. Moist towelette(they dont provide table napkins) and Kropek chips as appetizer are served at your table without asking. Then when you refuse the items they leave them on your bill as to see if youll notice. Tatics that feel dubious and downright underhanded.

I’ve been here a couple of times because it’s in my stomping grounds and convenient. The service is very friendly and prompt and the food is pretty good. I’ve ordered the grilled chicken, mixed veggies, green curry chicken, and young coconut. All were really good. The price is very reasonable, but not low enough that I’d dine here daily. Also, as a heads up, that moist toilet on the table is going to cost you $ 0.30 if you use it. I didn’t notice it until my second visit when I saw it on the menu and on my receipt. Consider packing your own napkins if you’re cheap like me. ;)

I had a groupon to the buffet lunch here with my colleagues, and there’s quite an impressive menu of food to choose from, however some of the more premium food is limited to just one serving per person, and for good reason too because these are the better dishes — go for the boneless stuffed chicken wings and the pandan chicken. Quite reasonable price for a buffet spread.

Along Killiney Road, Suanthai restaurant is just a short walk from Somerset. I went for the eat-all-you-can Standard Thai Buffet with 28 ala carte dishes to choose from. The ambience is cozy, with both indoor and outdoor sitting. The Boneless Stuffed Chicken Wings were particularly outstanding, which were crispy and flavorful at the same time. Their tom yum soup was a good balance of sour and spicy, and tasted authentic. The Thai Papaya Salad was light and refreshing, perfect for buffets. Sweeter than usual, the Green Chicken Curry would not cater to those who do not appreciate sweet savory food. For desserts, the signature Mango Sticky Rice is a must-try. The sweet plump mango was a real complement to the chewiness of the sticky rice. Priced at $ 16.90++ for weekday lunches, $ 18.90++ for weekday dinners, $ 17.90++ for weekend lunches, and $ 19.90++ for weekend dinners, Suanthai’s thai buffet is definitely value-for-money. However, the food is often served cold, probably due to the large crowds during mealtimes. One tip for those who wish to patronize Suanthai — make sure you call to make a reservation because it does get especially crowded during mealtimes. We definitely cannot blame them though.
