It’s easiest to spot them from the back — there’s a massive canvas that says this: «SOYFIELD FRESHLYMADEBEANCURDANDSOYMILK DON’T COMETOUSIFYOUWANTLOUSYBEANCURD!» No lie. You step in the doorway, next to this multi-coloured LED sign, and it’s as simple as it gets: a genial older uncle, and he asks what you want — cold soy milk and beancurd(and even the beancurd pudding, which is all the rage — think Lao Ban) in the fridge on your left, hot bean curd in a pot which he’ll scoop a la minute. None of the 10/30/50/100% sugar-in-your-bubble-tea rubbish; you tell him if you want more or less, and his steady hand pours it our accordingly. In all honesty, it’s not bad, so the product holds up to not being«lousy bean curd», and at prices ranging from $ 1-$ 1.50, it’s not expensive. They’re not claiming to be the best, just fresh, and not lousy, so good on them. Plus, who knows how far you’ll need to go for your next beancurd fix? Stop here, and say hi to the uncle for me.
