My go to place in Singapore to get film and batteries for my classic SLRs, and they do film processing too. These guys are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Highly recommended.

Ruby photo is defiantly one of my favorite photography stores in Singapore. They have a wide range of mainly film, and film accessories. Bulk rolls and packaging, chemicals, and some studio and lighting gear, they also have a pretty decent array of lomography stuff if your into it. I must admit a few years ago this place was where I purchased my first holga when I popped by to pick up some film. They also provide film developing, though I must admit I have never used this service as I know it takes a little longer than most other places as they outsource their developing process. Good selection of films and speeds, its mainly where I purchase all my medium format film. The older uncle behind the counter is always very friendly and up for a chat or some advice too, that’s the sort of service that keeps me coming back to that store when I’m in the area and in need of some film. Great to then take a wander through peninsula to check out some used camera porn!

Ruby Photo has always been a store that the guys in my studio visit. They’ve got everything that we need to run our place, backdrop papers, light modifiers, they even supplied Bowen strobe lights to us. They sell 120 and 135 film and processing equipment(fixers, developers, etc). Oh yes, they even got some LOMO cameras in their store. Their service is candid, friendly and rather accommodating. Do check it out.

I was going to Peninsula Shopping Centre to pick up an alternative battery for the banned-in-Singapore and out-of-production PX-6251.3V Mercury Camera Battery and randomly chanced on Ruby Photo while on my way to their neighbor’s. The atmosphere was friendly with a bunch of other customers around chatting to the older and more experienced staff behind the counter. I asked if they had the alternative Alkaline PX-625 and they immediately handed me one pre-packed in a mini zip-lock bag. For a battery that’s so hard to find in Singapore, that find was awesome. It was for a relatively good price of $ 4; I later learned that their neighbor was selling the exact same piece for twice their price. Ruby Photo is also listed on many forums as a go-to place for your camera and film woes. I’ll definitely revisit when my roll of film becomes due for developing. :)
