if not for the attack on pearl harbour… finally watching the 2001 pearl harbour movie gave an even greater insight into and connected the dots for this historical museum. without the attack, the americans may not have been dragged into world war II and you could say the attack, which was supposed to prevent the americans from interfering, actually ended up backfiring and became the catalyst for the end of the war. well, if only they had heard of newton’s third law of motion: when one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first body. the SG part of world war II’s history now resides here in the form of exhibits, audio and visual, with particular focus on the fiercest and final battle on opium hill before the british surrendered. if not for exploring the southern ridges… i would not have ended up here. the canopy walk that starts from kent ridge park literally leads you right to the doorsteps. this is a good aircon break from all the outdoors trekking. inviting water cooler, drinks vending machine and toilets are available here for your physiological relief. if not for it being free for most… i would probably not have ventured in for the very first time. kudos to the power of pink ic(identity card)! even for the small minority who will need to pay, it is really just a token sum, with the most expensive ticket going for just $ 2! this may well be the reason why the museum is listed in lonely planet?! and thus a popular excursion for schools, this can be. if not for history… might we be free?
