Delighted to find so many new Japanese places opening around my office, Raku Raku is one of them. I went for late lunch one day, and I ordered the grilled pork with ginger sauce to go with rice. This is a pretty typical Japanese dish and Raku Raku’s version is very tasty — chewy, flavorful pork with fragrant slightly sticky rice. Service is very attentive and friendly and there seems to be a lot of Japanese customers, which is always a good sign. I’ve also been there for afterwork drinks and they have a decent drinks menu. The good thing is there are plenty of snack options to go with your drink. So if you are looking for a hearty, unpretentious japanese meal around the telok ayer area, Raku Raku is not a bad choice.

Opened the sliding door, greeted in Japanese, proceeded to sit down. After 5 minutes of playing Candy Crush on my phone, I looked up, peeped over the privacy divider to my left, looked around the room some more and realized that it was occupied by 80% Japanese male customers. They were all speaking in Japanese. If that isn’t an indication of authenticity of the food, then I don’t know what would be. The lunch sets were all within reasonable price range, and comes with either hot or cold tea. I had the teriyaki salmon set, and it was the best salmon teriyaki I’ve eaten in Singapore in the past year. The salmon was marinated in teriyaki sauce, so flavorful! $ 15.30(incl. GST and service charge) I’m looking forward to try their tempura and udon. The staff were so Japanese mannered. While they thanked me so many times from the moment I got up from my seat to pay, I thank them for this very peaceful and delicious lunch. Outside seating is available. Every time a bell rang, the servers would say something in Japanese and quickly walked out to attend the customers. That’s what I call customer service!

Came here for a lunch meeting and it was super crowded. Luckily, there was only two of us so we got a table pretty fast. They have a lunch set menu with prices ranging from $ 14-$ 20. However, most of the items on the set lunch menu were deep fried so I gave it a pass. They also have Japanese curry rice and noodles for ala-carte orders. I tried the claypot udon, which was pretty decent. We also ordered the tempura ebi ala-carte to share and they were pretty generous with their portions. The shrimps were very fresh too :) Overall food and service is decent. Price point might be a little high for a regular lunch, but definitely a suitable location for a quick lunch meeting if you’re okay with the noise :)
