Be aware of the lady in short black hair with glasses, she always persuade you to order more dishes than you can have, I heard she said«not enough» to the couple beside us too, but the result is we all have to take away the left. Other all things remain good.

Seriously one of the best meals i’ve had in Singapore. Pu Tien serves high quality, home-style, authentic Heng Hwa(not that i really know what that is… Haha.) Chinese cuisine, perfect for family gatherings, special occasions, and those that don’t know how to make this stuff at home(like me: p). Dined here New Years day quite late and we still had to wait to get seats. The complementary(?) little dishes of pickled veggies and peanuts w/a hint of tea were a delicious and appetizing while we waited for our food. For our main course, we had fish soup(the milky white kind), pig intestines, stir fried kailan w/bean curd skin, and braised claypot sea cucumber with chestnut. The portions were quite small, but the freshness and quality of the food made up for it. My fave part of the meal was the dessert. I don’t care how full i am, my stomach just naturally makes room for it and it shows on this forever food baby of mine. The purple sweet potato w/pumpkin cream was delish and a great way to end a great meal. I think i was the most sad about the portion of this. If no one was looking, I might have gone ahead and gave my plate a lick or two. This meal for 3 came out to be $ 130+. Quite pricey, but the quality, taste, and service made it well worth it.

Definitely will go back again. 1. Sweet & sour pork — Loved it!!! one of the best. Crispy on the outside yet soft and tender on the inside :) 2. Mee sua — interesting twist on the traditional version of mee sua(usually in dark brown sauce). This one came in a light clear both. It still retained its stickiness. Pretty yummy. 3. Fried man-tous(buns) and shredded pork slices — I love man-tous(so I might be bias). 4. Fried yam — Not a big fan of yam but these were quite good. Service: Super efficient as most Chinese restaurants tend to be. Waiters have walkie-talkie ear pieces(we’re talking secret service level of efficiency).

Pu Tien serves Heng Hwa Cuisine and offers an oasis of simple indulgences amid one’s daily bustle. Also, like most Chinese restaurants, set menus for larger dinners are also available. It has numerous outlets island wide so no area is left out. The quality of cuisine is slightly above average, with dishes like pig trotters, stir fried yam, drunken cockles or sweet and sour pork among many others. However, portions are rather small, so all you big eaters out there might want to grab a bite elsewhere. Lastly, service is rather slow, and expect a 10 — 15minutes waiting time on weekends.

If not for the queues that often form outside Pu Tien, I’d definitely patronise a whole lot more. The food is homely and unpretentious, and service is always brisk. These auntie waitresses sure know their stuff! As a fan of Heng Hwa cuisine, the white lor mee is a definite must, and I was not disappointed. While the lor mee outside tends towards being salty and the noodles way overcooked, everything is done just right here, and comes steaming hot to your table. I was a little piqued by the sweet potato noodle dish in the menu, and ordered it just to see how it’d be. A little strange and chewy, but in a good way though it was kind of like the same dish over a different base. The homemade tofu was deliciously silky too, with smooth, light gravy. Wash everything down with scalding hot Chinese tea, and there you have it, a satisfying end to your day.
