This is about a 2.5 star place. Espresso no good. Same stuff you’ll find at Starbucks. The moelleux citron framboise was ok. I like that it wasn’t overly sweet. I do like the venue. It’s nicely decorated and hearing la vie en rose in the background is very nice. But then that bubble is popped by the cutlery. Am I in prison? The fork is so thin and pre bent like a child was playing with it or an amateur magician. Cheapens the experience. Maybe I’m nuts.

Ordered the waffles and utterly disappointed! Do not come for the waffles. Hard as rock and when requested for a new piece. They came back with a melted ice cream.

They have decent fruit tarts although they are quite expensive(I guess you don’t go to Singapore for fruit tarts). I thought there could have been more custard in the tart since it was very thin. This shop is located in that underground mall.

I’ve picked up baked goods and desserts a 4 or 5 times because of the convenient location. The desserts deserve 5 stars, but do NOT buy the bread, it’s not good French bread(see below). Let’s start off with the good: Dessert! There are lots of sweets, almond chocolate croissants, chocolate custard croissants, etc. There’s also this multi-layered phillo pastry dough with interleaving layers of chocolate mousse. I think that’s the best thing they have, the phyllo is crispy but not greasy, and the chocolate mouse is rich and softens the crunchiness. But I’ve been really disappointed with the classic breads that are supposed to be crunchy. French bread /baguettes should have a crunchy(ideally thick) crust, and then chewy soft center. The bakers really dropped the ball on this one. The crust is extremely soft — like it needs 3 –5 minutes more baking. Since everything else is up to quality(the cheese puffs are good), I can be generous and think that this is a French recipe that hasn’t been adapted to Singapore humidity. I hope a French baker will come in and fix this recipe. So stop by for dessert or baked goods that should be soft(croissants, puffs, etc), but don’t rely on this place for good French bread.
