I started planning my mini trip to Singapore when my husband and I were traveling around SE Asia and came across the Parc Sovereign and knew I wanted to stay there! It was appealing to me because it’s newly built in 2014, the price was good, not a far walk from the closest train station, and hawker stalls nearby for food. The closest train station is Lavender and about a 10 minute walk away — which is not a long distance in my opinion. A lot of the hotels that were much closer(3 – 5 minute walk away) were higher priced but my husband and I love walking when we’re on holidays as we’re in no rush to be anywhere and we get a better feel for the city. Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted when we stepped out of the taxi and were helped with our luggage. There were a few people at the front counter when we were there, so we were asked to have a seat on the side until someone was ready to help us. It didn’t take long at all as the staff offered us water and I manually filled out a form to check in. The staff was super nice — one gentleman asked if we needed a map or general directions to get around. He circled all the areas that we should see, some inside scoops of places we might enjoy, local attractions and general information like what time places usually close down. Loved the service! We were given a room upgrade to a king size bed which is always exciting! I knew coming in that our room would be pretty small(around 150 sq ft) but it’s just the two of us and I’d rather have a little smaller and a little more shinier from the new hotel look! Our king bed was tucked pretty close to one corner of the room, and the«bathroom» on one side, and the tv/desk/fridge at the foot of the bed. I say«bathroom» because it was hardly a bathroom. It’s like a rectangle of an area where the toilet sits, and shower across from it with a sliding door to close the area between the bedroom and bath. The sink is outside of the bathroom in the common space. I wouldn’t recommend it for those who need their privacy as you can hear everything! They have other amenities as well, including a gym and swimming pool, I think, but we didn’t use them. We were given two complimentary passes for the breakfast buffet which was a big disappointment. I would recommend skipping it if there’s an option to pay more for it. Limited space in the small restaurant attached to the hotel and not much variety in food. Overall, I had a great stay at this hotel and would recommend for couples.
