I was in Singapore for two weeks and this was one of my favorite meals!(I’m a little embarrassed to admit that amongst all that beautiful cuisine from ethnicities around the world, it was Western-style fast-food that was one of my favorite meals, but what can you do. I am American after all.) nomVnom is a 100%-vegan fast-food joint in the food court basement of Clarke Quay Central. They do vegan burgers, a variety of sides, some desserts, and a variety of hot and cold drinks. I had the«Meatless Mexican,» which is a soy patty with black olives, jalapeño, tomato, mustard, and lettuce. Now, I’m from Texas, so I know Mexican food — and aside from the jalapeño, nothing about this burger was«Mexican.» But who cares? It was delicious! For a side, I had the Vietnamese Yam Roll and OHMYGOSHWHATISTHISPURPLEDELICIOUSNESS. I was tempted to get up and order another side of the Vietnamese Yam Roll, because it was that amazing. But I was too embarrassed because I’d already demolished my meal in less than 15 minutes, ha! For a drink, I got good old-fashioned American root beer(hard to find in Australia, so I was surprised to see it in Singapore) and they gave me some free apple cider as well. Score! Atmosphere-wise, this is just a basic food court, so expect cramped food court seating, but it’s not a big deal. Their patties are also free from garlic and onion if you are avoiding those. I’m not sure about their sauces. Anyway, definitely worth trying this place for a quick lunch or dinner if you’re around the Clarke Quay Central area. And if you’re vegetarian or vegan who’s visiting Singapore and craving Western food, make an effort to seek this place out!
