Beautiful space if you need some inspiration for you creative minds out there. It was just my first visit a few weeks back and I was blown away by its beauty — modern, minimalistic and clean. One of my favorite things to do whenever I visit is to walk in the«shared lab»(sorry forgot it’s official name) — where students can register and work in there. During my visit, I had the privilege to talk to one of the students from NTU where he was building a model using a 3D printer. I was particularly interested as I was working on a 3D printing project lately. You get to see all the latest technology at work in the lab, so please check out if you’re there for a visit. On the first floor houses an exhibition on the design industry in Singapore, from who are the people behind some of the prominent architectures in the city to teh latest technology in fashion to furniture. Very informative, and i would highly recommend you read the articles on display to understand more. For you shopaholic out there, there’s a big Kapok store located at the other end of the building, on the ground floor. If you’re not familiar with Kapok, it’s a HK brand that houses smaller but quality lifestyle brands all under one roof. Expect to find Maison Kitsune, APC Paris, Common Projects, Freitag bags, leather goods and jewelries in this nicely spaced out shop. I was slightly depressed when APC closed down at Raffles Hotel but soon happy again to know Kapok now carries the men’s and women’s collection as well as their well known leather goods. Amen to that! So please drop by The National Design Center if you’re within Bras Basah /Bugis area, I highly recommend it. What’s even better? Entrance is FREE!
