This is a great place to cycle and just take a walk in the evenings or even in the morning. There’s a spot called Sunrise point and if you’re ever here before the sun is up make it a point to head to this spot and wait for the sunrise(cross your fingers and hope for a sunny day too, of course) as its just majestic. The waterway links to Lorong Halus wetlands and from there you can kinda cross over into Pasir Ris.

I simply cried with happiness. XD I never felt so happy. No restrictions no stress no heartless people and exes ruining my life. This place is very silent because all you hear is nature I will remember this place forever. ILY Singapore.

I try to cycle at least once a week to stave off the implications of a sedentary working routine, and head over to Punggol Waterway in the early morning to catch some fresh air as the sun makes it way up. I’m rather skeptical of the ability of humans to create artificial landscapes, but when I arrived here for the first time I was pleasantly surprised. Look past the ubiquitous construction cranes that dot the landscape behind the waterway(the Punggol area is perpetually under construction) and you’ll find much to appreciate. The cascading rapids, the fountains, the artificially-shaped canals with small banks — they can in no way compare to the real thing, but they provide an atmosphere that’s refreshing and easy on the eye. The cycling paths are wide enough to accommodate two bikes next to one another, and there’s a walking track apart from the cycling paths for added safety. The bridges that appear occasionally along the routes are also tastefully done: their design allows them to blend in with the existing landscape. The Waterway tends to get a little more crowded when approaching 8.30am as Community Club groups get here for their weekend activities, but the availability of space here to find your own corner or quiet spot to do your exercises, to get in touch with nature(well, as close as you can get on this side of Singapore), or to stretch out and feel the grass beneath your feet will ensure that you enjoy your visit.

I visited My Waterway @ Punggol today for a picnic with a group of friends and had a wonderful time at this beautiful and peaceful place. Walking through the main entrance near Damai LRT station, the view of the waterway is amazing. If the temperature fell by about 10 degrees, it could possibly make you feel like you were in the countryside in England or Scotland. The waterway runs 4.2km long and is connected to Punggol Waterway, a joint project by NParks and HDB. At either ends of the waterway are a variety of restaurants and recreational facilities. Wide open spaces like these are hard to come by in Singapore and My Waterway @ Punggol is a great place to go for a nice bike ride or a jog. It can get quite hot in the late morning and early afternoon as there aren’t many trees around and the shades are hard to come by.
