These guys are the best thing that hit East Coast since, well, Changi Airport, followed closely by the NTUC at Kallang Wave that is destroying ‘Out of Stock Storage’. Anyway the meat is the message here and these guys deliver. Do support them, it’s a start up and we need them to survive in our neighborhood, the USDA Prime & Choice never fails, and don’t forget the marrow bones for roasting with sea salt to drive up those low cholesterol levels! Parking at Foodie in town is ridiculous while here is simple, just turn left immediately past the store and park in front of the GCB even if it is double yellow line, haven’t been hit with a ticket yet.

Meat Collective is the«atas» butcher of Katong. Meats are primarily sourced from Australia and New Zealand, but nevertheless all the cuts you would expect from a fine butcher are here: New Zealand Lamb Racks, Australia Wagyu, Iberico, Dry Aged, etc. The quality of the meat is undeniable. Prices, naturally, are on the top-end relative to nearby supermarkets, but you are getting quality in return. The shop is quite large relative to their inventory. In fact, it may be a little too spacious… Nevertheless, the shop is clean/not cluttered and has nice modern look to it. The staff is friendly and will remember you, if you are a regular customer. Meat Collective is all you can ask for from a neighborhood butcher.

I don’t mean to be snobby, but I now only trust stand-alone butchers when it comes to buying steak and lamb. After getting a mildly bad stomach from a steak that I bought from Fairprice Finest(for those unfamiliar, they are the top of the line of this particular grocery chain) I figured there were enough good butchers in Katong that I DO have a choice and that I should support these guys instead! I feel lucky to have a place like Meat Collective within walking distance from me. These guys source their meat mostly from Australia and New Zealand. My husband loves their lamb; it requires little seasoning and cooking for it to taste 5 stars. I’ve also been happy with their steaks, and the prices are affordable. You can also find a variety of condiments and frozen foods. If you’re a fan of the Fassler brand, they offer a good selection of their frozen soups. Throw in their friendly staff who remember you if you come in often, and well, it’s as good as it gets.
