Chriashi Don and the Cod fish Nabe was good. Slightly pricey in my opinion but the sashimi is thick and fresh. And the Nabe has a lot of vegetables. I thought that maybe the rice can be improved. Slightly dry and texture not so great.

My first visit here was a week ago on a Sunday evening at 730pm. There wasn’t that many people inside so I guess I didn’t have any problems whatsoever with the service in my experience as compared to the rest of the reviews here. Being quite the regular at Chikuwatei, known for their massive cuts of sashimi in their Chirashi Don that everybody goes there for, this is their«sister outlet» and I came here already knowing that and expecting the same menu. I was right… it is basically the same as Chikuwatei with a different name but with a smaller menu. I wanted to order some kushiyaki from the menu but was disappointed to be told that they were temporary unavailable at this point. Seems to me that Manzoku is still a restaurant that is a «work in progress» but still offers only the popular items from Chikuwatei. I’ll be honest… I’m always at Chikuwatei for one thing which is the Chirashi Don. They have the standard chirashi which is about $ 25++ bucks for a bowl with THICK slices of sashimi and very nicely marinated japanese rice with a dollop of wasabi at the side.(This dish is the money shot) And they also offer the Premium Chirsashi Don which was almost 3x the price at 68++ per bowl but of course with premium ingredients like uni(sea urchin), the revered otoro(fatty tuna) and scallop sashimi. Well of course all these ingredients are gonna bring up the price hugely but the saving grace is that the premium also comes with chawanmushi which always a welcome! Both their Premium and Normal Chirashi Don sets come with a side of miso soup and 2 slices of watermelon. One thing to take note about having sashimi slices so thick is that on an off day that it isn’t as fresh, you’ll notice more immediately than if it were sliced thinly. So for this place, on good days when their sashimi is fresh, i don’t see why anyone would be complaining that their sashimi is cut too thick. I guess that can also be easily remedied if you prefer your slices thinner by requesting the chef to do so. Chirashi Dons in Singapore has definitely been one of the food trends since months ago. This would definitely be one of the places to try if you’re on the journey to check out all the Chirashi’s there is to offer in the tiny island of Singapore. I doubt you’ll regret the Chirashi here! 4.0 Stars

Worst dining experience. Never felt so annoyed with a restaurant’s service before. They took 1h to serve us our food even when there were not that many customers. They even came 30 mins after our order to inform my friend that the fish for the dish he ordered was not fresh and whether he would like to change to something else. Wow. Subsequently, they seemed to have forgotten my order and failed to deliver my food even after my friend’s changed order was served. If this is the kind of standard they provide consistently, I can only imagine that Manzoku would soon become an obsolete brand in the food industry.

Our group of three came here on a Thursday night and it was more or less full of other people also meeting up after work. We ordered some rolls and sides to share. The rolls were presented beautifully and tasted quite good. However, the confusing menus(three different ones?) and forgetful staff added some bumps and delays to our dinner. All in all, a simple, comfortable place to catch up with people over dinner, provided Japanese food(and the price you pay for it) is what you want.

Am I really the first person on Unilocal about Manzoku? Despite all the ravings of its generous sashimi portion, I found it just short of 4 stars. So we first heard about this place for its Chirashi set, how the thick cut ranks it possibly the best value in town. Yup they are right on this one. For $ 25, we were served a way larger-than-expected dose of omega 3, accompanied with miso soup and slices of watermelon. However, we don’t think the quality quite matched the quantity. Of the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and egg custard inside the bowl, both the tuna and yellow tail tasted a bit mushy. The yellowtail especially wasn’t as buttery and smooth, and some of my pieces had this yellowish tint. I supposed for such price and value, one shouldn’t be expecting the highest grade of fish.
