Over priced. Pasta was nothing like al dente, rather soft soggy noodle. I was very disappointed.

Let’s start from the positive. Firstly, the venue is really nice, with both indoors and outdoors seating, an open kitchen and a wood over. Secondly, their one past that we tried, the bucatini all’amatriciana, were really authentic and well done. On the other end, their Quattro Stagioni pizza has anchovies! Having had this same pizza hundred of times, this is a first! And definitely not a nice experience… Finally, if you like to eat with The Godfather theme music in the background, you will feel at home… went there for lunch, and throughout it they played stereotypical Italian-American music, waved in with some 70s Italian hits, like Toto Cutugno or Gino Paoli! :-)

On a recent business trip to Singapore I discovered La Forketta as it was about a 2 minute walk from the Orchard Hotel where I was staying. This is an excellent place to eat as everything is made fresh to order and they have open kitchens where you can see the chefs at work. The Pizza’s are probably the best I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. Made fresh to order in a large wood fired oven and served thin and crispy and hot. The Pasta dishes were okay — this is probably due to them being changed to better suit the local requirements — the pasta was cooked correctly, it was more the sauces that were not to my liking. The best thing to me about La Forketta was that they introduced me to the Italian drink Chinotto. They serve two types in bottles. San Pelagrino and Lurisia — both of them are excellent. This location also has a small store attached where you can buy Italian pasta, flour, chocolate, drinks etc. The waiters were all good, although rather shy at times. They also have a small outdoor area where you can eat and watch the cars heading to Orchard Street.
