Used to feel that the Penang Fare at Gurney Drive could work as a quick fix for my Penang food cravings. Not anymore. Somehow, the standard of the food dropped quite a fair bit. Ordered the Assam Laksa again and the portion shrank considerably. I personally feel that the quality of the food at the JEM outlet is better than the one at Changi Airport.

just okay local food at this chain. it’s a highly sanitised mix of dishes you’d usually find in the mess of the hawker centres — but since so much of the experience of local eating lies also in the sounds an dsmells of your surroundings, it does mean thtat though most of the flavors are delivered here, you also lose the charm of what makes local food taste so good. I suspect this is best suited for tourists gradding a bite at changi before catching a flight, or if you’re looking for a local meal without needing to smell like it after.

This is a perfectly nice little airport restaurant. It is clearly a fast food joint, but they have table service and bring you your meal. I had the Penang Lor Bak(101) and the Satay Chicken(207) and thought both were quite good. This place is noisy, slick & quick, and relatively inexpensive, and the food is fairly good. What’s not to like?

This is a review of group lunch at Gurney Drive. It is located in the common area of Terminal 3 in Changi Airport. The ambiance is quite nice. It isn’t elaborate but it is comfortable. Throughout the meal, the service was good. The staff was also friendly. The food ranged from good to extremely good. Grilled Stingray — I had never eaten stingray. So, when I saw it on the menu, I ordered some. I did not know what to expect. As it turns out, it is pretty much like any delicate flaky whitefish. I enjoyed it but I have to admit I was slightly let down that it was not somehow more exotic. Prawns with noodles — For the most part, this was a nice dish. However, the prawns were not as tender as I prefer. The flavours were there though and the noodles were well prepared. Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee — This was just a big bowl of deliciousness. It was the true star of the show. It was also the primary reason we went there and it lived up to its billing. Everyone enjoyed their bowl. Overall — The Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee was certainly worth the trip to the airport. The remainder of the food was also mostly pretty good. The room is nice enough and the staff was friendly. It is definitely a good option at the airport.
