ever wondered how mud, sand and grass taste like? well… mud can be thought of as a binding agent bringing together the three elements with a slight bitter after taste. sand never belongs in the mouth, it is abrasive and hard to swallow. grass is fibrous with a palate cleansing freshness. at farrer park field, besides the fresh cool breeze that is occasionally interjected by the wift of ammonia, you can get all of the above, for free. this used to be my playground. the ruffians game played by gentlemen led me here. back then the field was more undulated and a real nightmare when it rains! now walking on it with my brand new luminous sneakers is but a walk in the park. besides rugby, soccer«the gentlemen’s game played by ruffians», cricket«the i don’t know why you must wear white» game and frisbee«a chance to throw something at someone without actually hurting them» game are all played here. even the tennis training squads at the adjacent tennis facility will make use of this field for some physical torture, i mean training. toilet facilities can rival guantanamo bay, so do make use of the facilities over at the aquatic centre instead. spectators, mostly WAGs, will find the spartan stands nostalgic at best. parking is available at the public carpark which actually requires coupon tearing. however, the parking pontianaks, i mean attendants normally find it hard to creep up to issue summons without the early warning system, screaming WAGs, going off! i guess if you are not any of the above sportsmen, there is no love lost. only memories of the taste of mud, sand and grass keep me coming back. oh that and the fact that this is also a short cut, to little india, for me:)
