Crystal Jade Shanghai Restaurant

I came here after an overnight shift with cravings for their awesome pungent noodles (spicy beef noodles in super hot soup) and was disappointed that the restaurant was now non-​existent. The branch in terminal 2 is an inferior version of its former self. Sigh… Gotta find those pungent noodles again… T_​T

Wir waren eben noch mit meiner Kollegin aus Singapur hier essen. Es war sehr lecker. Freundliches und schnelles sowie aufmerksames Personal. Sehr gutes Essen und leckeren Blütentee gibt es hier. Allein wären wir nie hier essen gegangen, aber ich kann jedem empfehlen hier einen Stop zu machen. Bestellen ist auch einfach, mit Stift und Papier schreibt man von der Speisekarte ab, was man haben möchte. Empfehlenswert!

A colleague took me here for lunch.
The room is functional. Even though it is in an airport, it is quite nice and maintains that traditional feel of a Chinese restaurant.
The service is prompt and professional. I would not say it is friendly but it is polite. The food came out in a very timely manner.
The food ranges from very good to extremely good.
Dimsum — It was very enjoyable and well presented.
Spicy Pork Soup — This is what we made the trip to the airport for. It was certainly worth the trip. It was spicy but not over-​powering. There were layers and layers of flavours. I could eat this every single day.
Beef with Peppers — The meat was tender. The vegetables were crisp and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyeed this dish.
Overall — This would blow the airport scale out of the water. So, I am pulling it off of the airport scale. As a lunch spot, this is a four star experience. The food is good. The ambiance is service-​like but comfortable. The staff, while not fawning, is professional. The food is very enjoyable.

You may think that this is just a pretty passable Crystal Jade restaurant, but no! Crystal Jade Shanghai Restaurant serves a different menu from the usual Crystal Jade restaurants (they have so many different restaurants under their group that I get confused what serves what…). Like the name suggests, the food are more Shanghainese styled.
Most of the dishes are good for sharing. I would recommend the pork floss with Chinese pastry (that taste a bit like our local roti prata) which is very appetizing and also the xiao long bao, which the skin is not too thick, and steamed to perfection. The staffs there are very helpful and attentive. I also like that they have big round tables that are good for family. Overall, a decent restaurant with a nice environment and good food.
