I have been looking for a climbing gym that is kids friendly for my 6 year old son. Coincidentally my friend posted on FB about Climb Central so I decided to sign up for the Introduction for kids class. I haven’t been to many climbing facility but this is conveniently locate just steps away from a MRT station. The mall also has a good food court, some restaurants and a supermarket. Most importantly it is air-condition. For the Intro class I signed up and paid online. Upon arrival I just show them the indemnity form that I filled out. My son get his equipment and off he go for the safety briefing. He was climbing shortly. The instructors were patient and friendly. This place has a fee automatic belay system so you pretty much don’t have to do anything except hook your kid on and off. Couple of things to note: 1) It can get crowded during the weekends so go early 2) The reception and sign in area is very small. 3) The registration is done at 2 stations on the right as you enter. It could take a while to enter all the info required and read the T&Cs. My kid had fun so I’d be visiting them again soon.

The saving grace of what appears to be a superfluous mall — Climb Central takes over what in any other mall would be a boring ol open atrium area… usually where one might put a Christmas tree. but instead year round there are colourful holds all over the walls with people of all ages climbing over them! This place has bouldering, belaying and auto-belaying for all skill levels. What a great space to do this in!

Hey! Did you see that picture I upload of me rock climbing? Pretty cool, huh? Join me at Climb Central! I’ve been to the rock climbing gym in Paya Laber and I definitely prefer this one! Climb Central is relatively new, located in the new Kallang Wave mall. The best part, it’s an open rock climbing gym with AC! Meaning, it peeps out and passersby from all three stories can stare and watch you climb. Pretty intimating if you slip and fall, but a LOT of fun as well! Sometimes they clap when you reach the top *bows* The tallest wall is 16 meters and there are over 45 lanes/courses to keep you entertained. They also have a built-in-the-ground belay system, which makes belaying super easy for noobs like me.(I’m the kind of person who needs to relearn how to belay every single time I go rock climbing… same with poker.) Plus, if you go by yourself, they have an automatic-belay wall which is simply awesome! No need to ‘partner up’ anymore! Plus, it means I can climb at my own pace. So here is my list of pros, 1. AC 2. Super tall climbing wall(16M) 3. Built-in-the-ground belay system 4. Automatic belay system Excited? Let’s go climb!
