There are two Korean restaurants along Peck Seah Street and Chowon is one of them. Chowon used to have two options for seating — tatami or tables/chairs. But since they renovated recently, not only did they remove the largely platform tatami floor seating, they also overhauled their menu. Sadly, after the menu changed, the set lunch options became very limited, and less value for money. Guess somebody has to pay for their renovation. It also used to serve korean sushi — kimbab — one of the few places that had it on the menu but guess it wasn’t very popular and was dropped. They also have private room seating but when they are busy, buzzing the bell for a long time might not get you much response. But still, the only reason why all the Korean restaurants in Tanjong Pagar’s Korea Town can co-exist with each other is because of the diversity of food options they present. Sometimes you just need to go there for variety.
