When you’re craving for some American style Chinese comfort food and a flight to Australia for the next best thing is not in the cards, get your fix at Chop Suey, but prepare to pay up what the food you remember from back home in the US.
High end service, well executed food and prices to match.
Our favorite dish was the Crispy Orange Beef featuring tender strips of beef fried nicely and coated with orange flavored glaze.
The Wok Breath Rice Noodle was nice as well as the sticky crunchy baby squid.
Cocktails were tasty with appealing Asian accents, especially the Hot Lychee Margarita.
PARTING THOUGHT: sooner or later we’ll save enough room to finally try the desserts!

We’re having an old friends get together at this restaurant. The food to say the least is «unusual» in that it’s a fusion of Chinese and western. Whatever! But the bottom line is that it’s interesting and the food is very flavorful. Definitely worth a visit especially if you’ve become jaded on the regular stuff. Arguably it is a little unhealthy in that we tried most of the fried stuff. But what can you say. Anything fried always tastes better. Sigh! Looks like a diet over the weekend. Anyhow I enjoyed the meal and company and will probably come again, this time with the family. Parking though is challenging so take a cab or plan well.

The free sauces on the table are the best part. I especially liked the garlic-​chili and sesame sauces, ate almost the whole container, and put them on everything. I tried the duck omelet, which had a nice smokey flavor. It came with a large tomato and mushrooms. I also ordered the shishito peppers and edamame. There were only about four peppers in the bowl, so it should just be called edamame. I do not recommend this side, since it was quite plain and ordinary. The sides are extremely pricey for what you get, while the mains appear to offer a better value. I also tasted a few desserts, which are rather extravagant and good for sharing. The banana walnut cake was the best (like an extra sweet and sugary version of banana bread). Do not touch the chandelier in the VIP room. It was imported from Germany.

Chopsuey is an Asian-​American fusion restaurant that also serve brunch. They have an elaborate menu so everyone can have their pick. I got their duck omelet from their brunch menu and it was a generous amount with juicy sides — tomato and mushroom infused with delicious herby sauce. The duck was very well cooked and flavorful. The bread that came with the omelet was the downside of the meal — it was dry and did not serve a purpose at all. In fact, it absorbed a large portion of the moisture from the omelet.
I also got to try their French bean in Szechuan sauce — this is like your regular si ji dou — except cooked with lots of flavor. Highly recommended to fulfill your vege of the day!
Besides their food, their service was very friendly and food served in a timely manner. I would give this place a visit again, maybe to try their main dishes next time.

I attended the July UYE at Chop Suey Café today at 38 Martin Road and meet Unilocalpers like lawrence, peter & gloria from USA as well as the local Unilocalpers like Nik, Sonya, Ping etc

This café serve American Chinese cuisine, i ordered a smoke duck with herb omelette and the portion serve is big and it’s really tasty. I expect the smoke duck to be placed on top the omelette but it caught my surprise. The smoke duck is wrap within the omelette and it’s placed above the toast with alittle veg & marmalade garnish on top of it and the sides dish is 2 roasted tomatoes and mushroom.
Oh my … I never regret ordering this … It’s simply delicious and I’m really full. BLURP!
I envy those people who stay around here … They have nice café around the vicinity and you people are so lucky.
