Not that impressed. Some of the reviews mention about dining lakeside, by lakeside it is actually just a small concrete pond. Had a salad, it was ok but nothing special for 15 bucks. Staff should be reminded to smile once in a while! They had that Celine Dion song — Power of Love — on repeat. Great song(for some people) but by the fifth cycle I was ready to try to drown myself in that concrete pond. Could be the reason the staff are so miserable… I barely endured a lunch, they are there for a full shift…

Stumbled across this place a couple of weeks ago while out on a motorcycle in the futile search for the lesser spotted Singapore Twisty Road. Have now been back a couple of times and it has become a new favorite. Set in one of the many plant nurseries in Kranji, Bistro @Gardenasia is a relaxing place to spend some time kicking back with good drinks and great food. If you don’t like dogs be warned, it is very dog friendly as the owner has gone out of his way to rescue many local breed and dogs just abandoned in the area. They get to spend the rest of their lives being happy interacting with the guests in certain areas around the restaurant. Anyway, the drinks menu is not extensive, but has great coffee, both hot and iced. There is also a decent selection of beers and ciders, especially the Cheeky Rascal in different flavors. Just be careful if you drink these, alcohol content is nearly twice what you get from beer. The food is good and very well priced, the Ribeye Hor Fun and the Mee Goreng Pasta had great flavor with the pasta getting the edge on spiciness. If you want some deliciously unhealthy fried appetizers, they have several to select from with a 3 for $ 20 deal. Good wings, and good fried whitebait. Staff friendly, service quick, good ambience and great tasting and value food. Worth taking the trip off the beaten path for.

This place is located in a very serene location(that might admittedly be a little difficult to get to). I was very impressed at being able to find a restaurant with such a setting, but it’s thanks to my friend that I was able to know about this place. But let’s talk about the food. I ordered the ribeye, which was done medium-rare and I felt that the meat was above average. It was quite tender and there was a satisfying bite to it. My friend had the spaghetti which he said was quite okay as well, but perhaps a little salty. On another occasion, I had The Works Platter, which came with sausages, chicken wings and cheese sticks. This one was pretty good as well, but nothing too spectacular. Overall, I must say that the ambience of this place alone is worth the visit. The food is good and the service is attentive, so you really can’t fault this place.
