Batam Fast Ferry

«Fast» is debatable, but there’s no denying that they get you where you need to go!
Buying your tickets online is very easy; the website was very clear and user friendly. For 2 roundtrip tickets to Sekupang Ferry Terminal, it cost me about $ 95.
Once you rock up to Harbourfront Centre, just report to the Batam Fast office on the 2^nd floor, give them your order number (it’s in your confirmation email), and they’ll print your boarding passes for you. The gates don’t open until 45 minutes before your ferry leaves, and closes 15 minutes before departure.
For both trips, the ferries left on time, and the trip took between 45 – 55 minutes. As we went during off peak times, loading and unloading didn’t take too long, and people were generally well behaved. The ferries themselves were a-​ok; clean, slightly dated, but with working air conditioners.
With lots of departures daily from Singapore, it’s quite easy to hop on a boat to get away, and enjoy the spas that Batam has to offer. Bön voyage!

Used Batam Fast for a weekend holiday and it was anything but. On the way to Batam the ferry arrived 45 minutes late and once on board we waited another 20 minutes or so to get out of the harbour. Staff were similar to robots– they did not smile or speak. The cabin reeked of either oil or gasoline and there was no announcement or safety presentation that I could hear.
The return trip was much better. The ferry arrived on time and staff would smile and offer a hand to help you on the boat. There was a safety presentation but the cabin still had the strong unpleasant smell of gas or oil. I will try a different company for my next trip to compare.
