Balestier Midnight Bak Kut Teh

Balestier Midnight Bak Kut Teh is definitely not the best on Balestier road. However, as the name suggests, it’s the one you patronise when you stumble in search of food at 4 am because it will most certainly be open.
The bak kut teh is pepper-​based and tasty, but the sides were disappointing. Our preserved vegetables were bland and watery, for instance, and the braised egg was ok but not particularly note-​worthy.
Still, this makes for a decent alternative when no other choice presents itself to you. Kai Juan, at 395 Balestier road, stays open till 2 am and serves far better bak kut teh and preserved vegetables, so if you make it to the stretch earlier or during the day, you may want to check this one out instead.
