Antiques of The Orient

When traveling abroad, this is the kind of unique store I always hope to stumble upon. I was searching google for a map store where I could pick up a gift for a friend, and finding Antiques of the Orient was a serious stroke of luck. Tucked away in the corner of an older shopping center, you will find a treasure trove of old maps (both originals and reproductions) along with other unique artwork. They have an exceptional collection of plant and animal drawings as well (I purchased a map for my friend and a durian drawing for myself!). There’s a bit of something for every budget, whether you’re willing to spend $ 100 for a reproduction or a lot more for an original. The shop owner was very friendly and willing to help us as much or as little as we wanted (she was actually about to close up the shop as we walked up, and she happily opened it back up and didn’t rush us at all). We could have spent hours perusing the collection, and if I ever return to Singapore, visiting this shop again will be at the top of my list.
