This is an English pub style eatery. We dropped by for lunch today. Our waitress was friendly and very personable, and joked with us through our visit. Plenty of English pub options, which are usually good. Today we both had the cod and chips. Large portion of cod, the coleslaw was great, and the fries hit the spot. We never felt rushed. Noise level increased as the place filled up, but it was a happy noise. Will definitely return.

What a fun pub. We arrived on a Wednesday evening at about 5:45 pm and were able to seat ourselves, but the place quickly filled up after that. It seemed like many of the patrons were locals, with a good mix of vacationers. Our waitress was friendly and had a phenomenal memory, never writing orders at any of her tables, yet getting everything right. Although the pub was busy, she didn’t rush us. We began with drinks, a rum and Coke for my husband and a gin and tonic for me. We chatted, studied the menu, eventually put our order in about half an hour after we arrived. Our meals came out surprisingly quickly and were hot, tasty and exactly as ordered. I had the Canadian steak sandwich, hold the peppers. It was a good strip steak on a grilled sub roll with Asiago cheese and grilled onions; I subbed onion rings for fries and we thought the rings were a tad greasy. My husband was quite pleased with his fish and chips, choosing cod since they were out of perch. He enjoyed the cole slaw that came with it and helped out with the onion rings. Even though the place was busy, our waitress took time to take our picture when she delivered the Dickens Amaretto specialty of the house. It’s a scoop of vanilla ice cream swimming in a cool pool of Bailey’s Chocolate Cherry Irish Cream. It comes with a dollop of whipped cream, shaved chocolate and a cherry on top, served in a footed glass coffee cup with two spoons. A small dessert, just right for a celebration.

Real English food. Good prices. The food appears to be made fresh. The servers are friendly. There isn’t a bad thing I could say about this place.

Excellent food. Busy for Wednesday night. Family vacation stop so big order. We loved the pub atmosphere. The meatloaf was nicely seasoned, the mashed potatoes were good, a little lumpy. The soup of the day was tomato vegetable and tasty. The crispy fish sandwich was good, maybe a little more sauce — but it’s two generous portions of battered fish on a large bun. Some of us liked the fresh cut potato chips instead of fries, some didn’t. The steak & Stilton pie was very good. Flavourful sauce with generous chunks of steak. Fish tacos were breaded fish filets so kind of big pieces, and the taco fixings were fair, the sauce on the tacos was a tomato aioli and enjoyed. I had the Maharajah burger — seasoned lamb patty with curried aioli on a naan bread with tomato, lettuce & onion with onion rings. Perfect rings and the burger was nicely seasoned, not overpowering but needed more aioli cause it was a little dry.

Great food. Great vibe. Not your typical pub food, although they do have that. The servers were awesome and made great recommendations!

Great place to eat! Love the British pub food they serve. They have a great selection of beers on tap. My only complaint is that with the amount of beers on tap none seem to be local/craft beer, when they always seem to strive to have local/fresh food in the restaurant.

Probably one of the best place in Woodstock to grab some food or even just have a Few drinks. English pub type food so of course delicious perogies are a must! There’s a little bar area and a couple tvs to catch whatever sporting event you need … Usually hockey! My mom is also a big fan of this place, our community usually comes here after our annual golf tournament as well so it’s great for small and large parties.

While passing through Woodstock, I popped in to the Charles Dickens Pub for a pint with my boyfriend. The place looks like a traditional pub and has the friendly service to match. Our waitress was super nice and helpful — she recited all the beers on tap(there are many!) before helping me pick one. We didn’t order food but we did see delicious looking plates of pub fare pass by on their way to merry and hungry patrons. It all smelled very good. The people at the Charles Dickens were a mixed bag — everything from an older gentleman traveller sitting alone to a table of young women dressed to the nines. There is a welcoming and casual atmosphere here — I would definitely come back.

Very nice English-style pub. Great pub atmosphere. Stopped in there for lunch and had the avocado grilled chicken sandwich. Kind of like a BLT with chicken and guacamole on it. At first it seemed like a weird combination of flavours but they all worked together nicely. The french onion soup was very good too. The pub has a good selection of beers on tap as well.

I was there last night for their Thursday specials. I had the fish & chips which is the best I have had in quite some time. It was cooked to perfection, plump and tastey. The atmosphere is that of a cozy English pub and appears to be a favorite among the locals. The place was full.
