Friendly staff, great coffee and a great space, convenient to Misericordia Hospital. I’ll be back the next time I’m in the ‘Peg.

A small and intimate atmosphere makes it difficult for work or conversation, but what this places lacks in space it makes up for in quality coffee. The draw for this place is the bean — fresh, single origin and brewed by v60, chemex or aeropress. The espresso is sweet and slightly acidic, lattes foamed to perfection and topped with foam art. There is a leather shop in the back and the front is well lot with free WiFi(if you ask for the password) although it is definitely crowded during most of the day. But let’s get real. This shop is for us coffee lovers that want a brew. We want undertones. We want a real barista. We want a pourover served fresh and no drip machine crap sitting in a pot on a burner all day. We want real, fresh joe served the way those dark roast lovers will never understand. And this spot delivers. Grab a mug, grab a seat(if there is one) and enjoy the beauty coffee lovers.

Thom Bargen is what my husband would call a «hipster» coffee shop. The shop is spacious with limited seating. At the back of the coffee shop is a leather workshop. I didn’t even notice it until I needed to use the washroom, and ended up going up the stairs to discover it. They have a bunch of leather products from Wilder Winnipeg that is available for purchase, such as wallets, totes, backpacks, duffel bags, belts, etc. There also other merchandise for purchase from Thom Bargen, such as shirts, mugs, coffeemakers, etc. I have tried their lattes, which were alright. I have also had their cortado and matcha chai latte, both of which are my favourite to order.

My regular coffee joint(in Winnipeg). Phil & Sebastian seems to be a consistent staple + they always have a rotating feature. Matchstick had a good run for a while. Whether you want a traditional roast or something almost green, you can find what you like. Great atmosphere. Great service.

Quickly becoming my favourite coffee spot in the city. Friendly staff, delicious coffee, espresso, and lattes. They also serve a variety of danishes, cookies and doughnuts. Expect to wait a few minutes, as the drinks are made to order. Décor is trendy, with not a lot of seating, but at the end of the day, they serve great coffee and that’s why I’ll continue to go back.

Best in the city. We are there nearly every week. For the purist. Modern. Trendy. Minimalist. Very friendly.

Great coffee and great people. What more need be said? Expect to wait 3 – 5 minutes for your beverage, but the product is by far superior to any of the commonplace coffee shots around. The staff are always welcoming and will be happy to talk shop.

my favorite in the city. super friendly staff. tables to work, with wifi. I’ve traveled all over, still hands down best coffee I’ve had. Leather shop in the back is the real deal. the 360 is amazing. so are the lattes. sometimes they have fresh cinnamon buns and they are to die for.

So great to see more and more independently run coffee joints in the city. Thom Bargen is a great fit into the Wolseley area on Sherbrook. Love how this area has blossomed over the last several years as new eateries develop along side the long time faves. Thom Bergen is across the street from Boon Burger & Bistro Dansk. The space is contemporary, bright and inviting. There’s not a lot of seating relative to the space, mostly wooden benches that run on one side of the wall plus some window seats. There’s even a small retail store in the back that sells some of the aprons that the Thom Bargen staff wear. Espresso $ 2.50, Cappucino $ 3.50, Latte $ 4, Mocha $ 5 along with tea, drip coffee and some pastries. I tried the mocha, it comes in one size, probably close to a tall(~12 ounces). The mocha uses shaved dark Belgian chocolate, in the drink the chocolate had a very delicate and subtle flavour. Overall, the mocha was very smooth in taste but could have used a touch more mocha to give it a bit more flavour. Otherwise, good drink and I’d go back to try more of their drinks. The vibe is very laid back and enjoyable as everyone’s there to just hangout and enjoy the company of friends with a warm drink in hand. M-F: 7am-7pm Sat/Sun: 9 am-7pm

Looking for swanky new joint to hang-out? You’ve found it at TB! We decided to try a hip new coffee place after lunch. It’s totally the new and modern vibe you’ll see a lot of folks meeting up. It’s spacious and inviting. Looking at the barista prepping the slow drip system was pretty neat! I tried the Cappuccino with Soy and the husband tried the Chai Latte. I’m not really a coffee drinker but the Cappuccino was pretty strong; for those who likes the caffeine boost! My husband said his Chai Latte was pretty mild compared to the ones he had at Starbucks. It’s great that we went with our kids, they got a free hot chocolate! Woot Woot! Over all, it’s pretty good and I’d recommend for people who likes to hangout at a new spot because I can totally see myself hanging out with my girlfriends here! P. S. Staff are super friendly! :)
